I swallowed hard, thanking whatever goddess was listening that Axel had saved me. And he did that boy because he gave two fucks about me but all because of Blake, his best friend whom he's known all his life and all I did was express some strong stupid crush towards him knowing he would never look at me twice. I was silently thanking him for standing up for me. But watching him care was not an experience my heart and my body were ready for.

Adding Blaze to the big plan had come as an afterthought. He originally wanted Maverick's property, but then he thought, why not take Blaze's, too? The more, the better. And curse that sour look his brother gave him; Blaze was way worse at heart.

"Where have you been all this time?" shouted Blair while holding tightness in her chest. Axel pursed his lips like a child. "To the forest. I'm back to doing things I previously left off. I give seminars in cities and campaigns to save endangered animals out there. I reflected on many things and matured myself." Blair squint. "I heard you had an accident and got injured. You even refused to be taken to the hospital in town. But you seem fine."

"You know Axel Davers owns that." Blaire rolled her eyes, making my fingers twitched. "Here we go again with Axel Davers—I admit he is kind of creepy, but you seem to hate him. Did he steal your woman with his smile?" She likes his smile, my wolf said. Smile! Right now! Show her a smile! "I’m not smiling," I mumbled so she couldn't hear. "Axel is—a dirty businessman and I don't want you at his club." "So I've heard from your brother. What are you going to do? Send someone to spy on me every moment I'm away from you?"

I thought that he might have liked me too, but that was definitely not the case now. No one would like me again. Not for a long time anyway. Axel held my hand until a man behind us called him, I didn’t even notice him before. I turned around and took a good look at him, there was another man with him. They were both wearing bike leathers. When did they get here? Then I remembered hearing the bikes. I saw there was four parked up next to each other. Stitch must have had one, the other must of belonged to Axel. That must be why he is called Axel, it is a biker name, not his real name. I remember he said his Prez was called Ink, and the paramedic was called Stitch. I didn’t know the other one

Axel We were in the second period, tied two-two against Redwood, and the game had already turned ugly. One of their defensemen had elbowed Tyler into the boards five minutes ago, and I had returned the favor hard enough. The arena smelled of the usual blood, sweat, ice, and human excitement. And suddenly, through all of it, a mouth-watering smell of sugar cookies assaulted my nostrils. My wolf, Blaze, rose violently inside me, his entire focus on that one fucking smell.
