The sea engulfed us. My power flared before panic could take hold. A golden barrier formed around our group, trapping air as the ruins surged upward. Outside it, towers emerged from darkness. Not one building. A city. Silver roofs pierced centuries of sand. Bridges unfolded from the seabed. Statues of wolves rose from trenches. Blue fire travelled through streets buried since our deaths. The Azure Tide Realm awakened below us. Kiyomi pressed both hands to the barrier. “Ayame.” Her voice shook. I could not answer.

We need a family member to come collect them. Tristan listened, incredulous. "Are you people still not done with this act?" Callum glanced over with a sneer. "First, the police station; now, the forensic center. Selene's got quite the network." The staff member on the other end went quiet for a few seconds, their tone cooling. "If it's inconvenient for you to come in, you can start by looking at the photographs." Three photos arrived moments later. The first showed a white gown, bloated and warped from the seawater. The hem was stained with dark traces of blood, and the lace had rotted beyond recognition.

The North Sea was a violent churn of slate-gray water and freezing spray. Between the peaks and arches, flame-glow shimmered—distant, tempting. “The Vein’s beneath that central spire,” Lena confirmed. “We’ll have to dive.” Tarek scowled. “Through cursed waters. Of course.” Kael turned to Aria. “We dive together.” Aria didn’t hesitate. “Get your breath.”

Derrick and his three companions rode an avian alpha beast, boldly entering the Blue Sea and instantly catching the attention of the patrol team.

But the signatures weren't in the sky. They were emerging from the ocean.
