“He’s so sweet.” Yeah, the cat being close with a little kid is probably the most rewarding part of Barry. As we watch the movie, I feel my eyes getting heavy. With the baby, sleep has been difficult. I try not to alert the girls to the exhaustion. But when I suddenly jerk awake, I can tell something has gone wrong. The movie is finishing up, and the girls are still grasping every word. I feel something wet, however, moving from under me.

“It’s how you look in the dress.” I turned back to the mirror. I barely recognized the girl in the reflection. The usually sharp lines of my work clothes were replaced by flowing ivory, the kind that belonged in ballrooms and fairytales. My hair had come loose a little from earlier, falling over my shoulders, giving the whole look a kind of accidental elegance I didn’t know I was capable of. And for the first time in a long while, I felt… soft. Beautiful, even. “I look like I’m about to marry a prince,” I muttered.

The last thing they put on me was the black stilettos. "Perfect!" Barbie exclaimed happily while looking at me. She pulled me towards a mirror covered with cloth. "Ready?" I just nodded at her and took a deep breath. After a few moments, Barbie removed the cloth, and I finally saw myself. I was almost gaping at my reflection. It was so far from the simple Jane. "You look beautiful!" Barbie said. "Yes, indeed," Maria added. I mustered a small smile. I tried my best because I saw how tired they were while preparing me. "Thank you," I said. I stared at my necklace. "Can I wear my necklace?"

Oh wait, I do. Audrey suggested a Barbie movie, which I obviously went against. I told her that there's no way in heaven, hell and earth that I would watch a Barbie movie. Then she went on to say that not all Barbie movies are bad and then she took the remote and that's how we ended up watching Barbie and the 12 dancing princesses. "But like... why don't they wish for world peace or for a cure for aids using that magic flower?" I ask Audrey. "I mean... that magic flower does grant wishes."

The simplicity of the materials juxtaposed with the captivating ambience created by fairy lights evokes a charming allure. Though appreciative of her fort-building prowess, a part of me questions the choice. While I'm content to indulge her desires, a fleeting thought of the theater crosses my mind. After all, it would offer a different and perhaps more conventional setting for our movie night. “The setup is nice.” I compliment her taking it all in again “Yes, we’re going to watch Barbie today, and tomorrow we will watch Little Mermaid; we’ll watch it by the pool. Pat has this really nice concept, you’ll see.”

Matt explained. “Since when?” Clark asked seriously. “Sleeping Beauty was a story about a princess who was cursed and forced to sleep for a long period. And her name wasn’t Belle; it was Princess Aurora, and Maleficent cursed her,” Riki explained. “Is that the story?” Clark. “No one informs me.” “Jeez, Clark, are you serious?” Dylan asked. “Wow, Riki, you know the tale. Is it one of your favorite bedtime stories? “ Matt chuckled.

She had met Alia several times, but Alia was still so young. "Look! Cinderella is so beautiful." I had forced Barra to watch the Cinderella movie with me, even though in the end he fell asleep without watching a bit. I didn't want to lose either, the next day I forced him to watch the same movie. "This is the fourth time I've watched it." Barra commented while eating popcorn. "Yesterday you slept, the day before yesterday you had slept again, and the day after yesterday you didn't listen." “Your words giving me headache." He shook his head. I went through the motions without much thought like a robot. We went on a walk around the property after that, in a clean set of pajamas, I didn’t see the need to change into anything else as I planned on returning to my bed right after. Except Hannah had brought with her computer from her tote bag when we returned inside and clicked on a Barbie cartoon popping it in the middle of the bed. I once told her they were my favorite growing up. After the second movie, she got more snacks from her bag, handing them out, and when she went to click on the next I noted her bare finger.
