I close my eyes and fall into a variation of my usual nightmare. It’s quiet, too quiet. The only sounds are the soft patters of mouse paws skirting across wooden floorboards. I’m in the old slave holding cell from my childhood but I am, as I am now, an adult. I’m in my assassin outfit. There are slaves all around me, but they are frozen in time. Their mouths are agape as if they are afraid and their eyes are empty as if they’ve lost the will to live. Their forms are distorted into odd postures, some with their legs bent over their heads or an arm bent backwards against the joint and up. I felt the itch on my body but I didn’t experience shifting during the blood moon. I finally found Alarick, who was still drinking his beer. “Alarick.” I tapped his shoulders as he is now immersed in the moon’s energy. “What is it?” I saw his eyes turn from bloody red to silver. He is absorbing the power of the moon. “Y-you need to see this.” I led the way and started running back to the cell. When both of us entered the dungeon, I immediately opened the door and was confused by what I saw. “Is that?”

“I’m sorry, Liam. I don’t know how to sense them because I’ve never seen a ghoul before.” “Damn it,” Liam mutters under his breath, tightening his grip on my shoulder. “We need to get out of here. Fast.” Before I can even process what Liam is saying, the ghouls appear out of nowhere. Their ghostly figures seem to appear and disappear almost like a mirage, and their shrieking fills the air. Fear takes over me, especially when I hear a voice inside of my head say, ‘Purple-eyed wolf. I want to feast on your blood and take your powers!’
