Nothing held back. The warrior went down. We kept moving. That was when the battle proper began. Not our fight at the north corner — the sound of it, small as it was, carrying to Clara’s embedded people in the east wing and triggering the cascade of responses that Clara had prepared. Warriors emerging from positions. The patrol rotation breaking into engagement mode. The pack house grounds becoming, in the space of sixty seconds, something that looked nothing like a pack at rest. He shoos me towards the Ferrari. I walk eagerly to the car, with the key I was given in my right hand. I press on the unlock pad and the door slides open. I pull open the dashboard, and there is a card in it. Curious to find out what was written in the card, I pull out the card and open it, four words were boldly written in capital letter, the words read "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" I find it funny to have picked a car perhaps, already purchased by someone else. I make to inform Gregory on this mistake.

"And why should I trust you?" He smirked. "Watch." Noah turned to the man. "What’s your name?" "Gerry George." My brow twitched. Noah's right, the serum worked. "Who do you work for?" I asked. "We’ve never seen his face. Not even the head scientist has. He always wears a mask. We just call him Boss." I folded my arms, pacing around Gerry like a predator. "Those beasts that attacked the school... what are they?" "The Ultimate Weapon. Transformed rogue wolves. The early versions failed, but recently, we’ve been getting success."

“Elara has terrorized us for long enough. Today, we take back what’s ours. We fight for our pack, for our family, for our future. Together, we will win.” A cheer rose from the pack, their unity a powerful force. Mike turned to me, his gaze unwavering. “Ready?” I nodded, gripping the crystal tightly. “Let’s do this.” --- The battle was chaos. We stormed the camp, our forces clashing with Elara’s in a whirlwind of steel and magic. The air crackled with energy, each strike and spell reverberating through the clearing. Mike fought like a force of nature, his movements precise and unrelenting. Beside him, I wielded the crystal, its light cutting through the darkness like a blade.

He fell forward like a puppet whose strings had been cut, his body hitting the marble with a heavy, metallic thud. "It's the C7!" I shouted to the Unbound who were beginning to rally. "Aim for the base of the neck! You have to sever the hardware!" The battle for the palace became a grotesque dance of biology versus machinery. The Unbound, driven by their new, violet-tinted instincts, fought with the ferocity of the wild. But the Inertia Soldiers were relentless. For every one I disabled, two more stepped through the mist. They were the perfect "Antibody" to our "Infection."

I just stood there, in the secluded road, all alone as the autumn breeze caressed me gently, reaching deep into my soul. I felt like a diaspora, standing there in the strange, dark valley. Suddenly, all the colours that was in the background and melted together in a bland combination. Everything swirled as I stood there, trembling. Something bad was going to happen, I knew it. The colours that melted together, suddenly, started separating, creating a vague form of shades. Red. Black. Brown. Scarlett. It was like witnessing a mighty artwork unfold in front of me. Shades of red, brown and black diademed the canvas, yet not getting mixed together, as if they harboured misogyny.

Beside the thrones were two dragon statues. Whoever made those sculptures did an extraordinary job. The sculptures were magnificent to behold and they looked so real. Sham stood staring at them for a while until he heard a voice behind him. When he turned, he saw Adrian and his daughter. He looked at her over and over again because she was quite beautiful. Adrian smiled at him. "It is foolishness to come to the enemy's lair alone and unarmed" he said. "I want to form an alliance" Sham said and Adrian laughed.

I don't kill, I immobilize. I was in the full battle mode now, and wolves were falling at my feet. I was ripping into the side of a gold-coloured wolf, I was distracted. Too distracted to see a rouge lunge at my right. The wolf knocked me to the floor and I growled as blood pooled from my side. The battle was drawing to a close, the rouges were retreating. The wolf tearing at my body was doing it out of spite. I struggled, made a last attempt to lunge and my teeth sunk into his throat. He thrust away from me and retreated, blood dripping from his coat. I sunk down as the pack began howling in victory, a soft smile working its way onto my lips

Chapter 23 – The Edge of Ruin The monstrous rogue slammed forward, its sheer weight shaking the frozen ground. Aria darted to meet it, sword gleaming in her trembling grip. Serena surged inside her veins, lending her reflexes faster than thought, but even with the wolf’s strength the impact rattled through her bones. Steel clashed against claw. The shock knocked her stumbling back, boots slipping across blood-slick snow. Kieran was already there, his own blade biting deep into the beast’s flank. It barely slowed. The thing’s snarling face swung toward Aria again, as though it knew who it had come for.
