Not My Family
Dad roared, “If you don’t get us the money today, don’t ever think of being a part of this family!”
“Then I won’t be part of it!” I shouted even louder, years of suppressed resentment finally breaking free. “Today, I’m leaving this family, and from now on, we owe each other nothing!”
My eyes burned, and I felt a lump in my throat, but I refused to let a single tear fall.
Dad’s eyes were red as he lunged at me again, but Mom desperately held him back. When she couldn’t stop him, she turned to me instead.
