As she flipped through page after page, her quiet sobs grew louder and louder. "I finally figured it out. Mom's wish is for me to die. "I heard from other kids that if you make a wish before a birthday cake on your birthday, it'll come true. "But Mom never celebrates my birthday. When can I make my wish?" Thankfully, the day my fever hit 104 degrees Fahrenheit, I finally got a small birthday cake. Mom evidently remembered that, too. She snapped the journal shut all of a sudden, as if she had lost the courage to read another line.

He finally grabbed a copy of the book he wanted to enter. The book was thick and old. Its cover was yellowish-brown with a crusty texture. I couldn't see the title because the cover was worn out through the test of time. I asked Doom what the story was about, he told me that it was his favorite tale and he really wanted to meet the character. "You can't speak with the character; we can only enter the setting and watch the story progress. The character can never see us," "Whatever, just bring me here," said Doom, smiling from ear to ear.

"Are you happy seeing me like this? Tell me, why?! I regressed and was given a second chance in life! So, why did I still lose to you? What are you?!" "This is all because of your own wickedness. If you had simply stayed with the Howard family and behaved yourself, they might have protected you. Everything that happened is because of your own actions," I said. "I won't accept that! Why?! Why would fate do this to me?! You should be the one to die! If you were dead, everything would be mine!" She screamed as she grabbed a broken beer bottle and lunged at me. Scott reacted and pulled me into his arms, saving me from this killing strike.

Barry waited for the girl to make her move, anticipating the moment she’d try to be sneaky, yet she still acted as though she were more enthralled with his first mate’s tale than with stealing anything. The girl stepped closer. Not more than three feet away from her was a ten-inch golden statue of Pegasus. If she tried to steal that expensive artifact, Barry would tackle her right in front of everyone. He crept away from the crates, nearing the girl just in case she slipped something of value beneath her long skirts. A few more buyers gathered around Jeffrey, listening to his first mate’s extravagant storytelling. The thief continued moving closer as though mesmerized. Would she indeed steal

Come back in a few days, and I might have more answers for you.” I glanced at Elijah, uncertain, but he nodded. “Take your time.” As we turned to leave, the witch called out, “One more thing.” We paused, looking back at her. “Whatever you’re hoping to find in this book—whether it’s a way to reclaim a lost wolf or break a mate bond—remember that magic always comes with a price. Always.” Her warning followed us out the door and down the path, making me shiver despite the balmy weather.

Camouflaged on the sheets. “What does it mean?” “This is the first wish you’ve made true. And this is your book. It keeps all the wishes that were fulfilled by you. This lives on until you choose your predecessor. The next Jinni.” Her eyes lit up like a lamp. Alvah closed the book as the light glimmered on the edges, then it finally died down. The feeling she has is overwhelming. “Tomorrow is a new day. You have just made your first wish. Clearly, this means so much for you.”

She chuckled then, at her own clumsiness, at the pretty sight of the white snow and the redness of her blood mixed together under the darkness of her shadow that the Queen cried, as if in prayer to the heavens: “Oh, but if only my child will be as fair as snow, as dark as shadow, and as red as blood!” It was just a silly wish. A silly, innocent wish Oh, but the poor, poor Queen, beautiful, foolish Queen! Did she not know? Had she not heard? Be careful what you wish for! ...because what was seemingly a silly, innocent wish uttered as a passing fancy is still a wish. One that the heavens did not took heed, but the Devil himself had heard–and granted!
