A memory of Jericho suddenly flashed to her mind. -Flashback- "No matter what happens, I will always be here for you," Jericho said while smiling. "I will always be the guy you can come to whenever you have a problem. Someone who would drop everything he's doing just to come to you. I promise you that you will never be alone in this world." -End of Flashback- ------- Patricia woke up after a few hours and the first thing she did was break everything she touched inside her room. She destroyed her clothes, her bed, her bags and shoes, and every single piece of furniture around her. She screamed until there's no voice to scream with anymore.

Easily the best booth in the house. Chris and Crystal sit hand in hand on the soft velvet seating. I scoot in beside Crystal and Stella follows, obviously wanting what I want. "Show me your ring" I ask for both Stella and I. Stella nods in acquiescence. Crystal grins and holds out her hand. The ring is exquisite, a single solitaire in a fine, elaborate claw with diamonds on either side. "It's beautiful" I tell her. "It's stunning" Stella says. Crystal nods in delight "It's not as beautiful as yours though"

Jessica had completely severed our connection. I leaned back against the sofa, letting out a guttural growl of anguish as pain consumed me. My eyes fell on the ring Jessica had left behind—the one my mother had given her. The silver moonstone glowed faintly under the light. It was the family heirloom my mother had put on Jessica’s finger the day of our engagement. "This is our family’s heirloom. From now on, it belongs to you," my mother had said. I remembered how Jessica’s eyes had filled with tears, her amber gaze sparkling with happiness as she smiled sweetly at me.

" As I finished speaking, I heard gasps from the crowd surrounding me. The series of revelations was almost too much for the spectators to process. "So Mr. Smith isn't the person we thought he was. It was the ring he had given her when they registered their marriage twenty years ago. They were poor back then. They had no money. They could not afford diamond rings, only a simple pair of silver bands. She never complained. She wore it happily and said she liked silver rings. Later, when they became wealthy and entered New York’s upper circles, he bought her countless pieces of jewelry and expensive rings. Yet for twenty years, she never stopped wearing this one. There was a fracture on the surface of the ring. It must have snapped. She had someone repair it, and although the craftsmanship was good, a broken ring could never truly return to its original state. The crack was still there.

I don’t want to be anyone’s vessel. The chandelier flickered above me, shadows sliding across the walls. My gaze caught on the ring lying on the floor, still glinting in the dim light. It looked small, harmless. But I knew better. It was a cage, no different from the iron bars I could almost feel around me. Something inside me snapped. I crawled across the floor, snatched the ring, and hurled it at the mirror. The glass cracked, splintering across my reflection. A dozen broken faces stared back at me—eyes red, cheeks streaked with tears, mouth open in a silent scream.
