I release. The death is instant. The deer falls to the ground, cracking twigs and old leaves beneath it. Keenan gives me a reassuring smile. ''Nice shot, ladybug.'' I release the breath I was holding and slowly go to the animal. It's small, still thin after the harsh winter. ''Yeah, let's get it back home'' I say, looking at my brother, smiling softly at the nickname he's given to me when I was a toddler. Keenan comes to the animal and lifts it easily on his shoulder. I furrow my brows.

His hand was still on her arm, and sparks skittered across her bare skin at the pressure from his fingers. “Wolf. Right?” she croaked. “Jaylon Ross, at your service, Miss—” “Becca Duran.” Jaylon smiled. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Becca, and your escalator escapade notwithstanding, my guess is your balance would rival a tightrope walker. I bet your specialized skills are as sharp as mine, including a bit of jungle camouflage in a tawny, spotted coat.” She nodded. “North American leopard.” God, the smell of him sent her cat into a purring frenzy.

She's always happy and enthusiastic much like her cheery daughter. I know words won't do much at this point so I just hold her hand, quietly comforting her. Sky is seated beside me, rubbing my shoulder but he's also quiet, I think he's processing everything that's happened so far. It's easier for me because I'm starting to understand what it means to be a nonhuman but for normal humans like Sky, it's never easy. Sky's cellophane starts to ring and he excuses himself so that he can answer it. "He's a good boy." Alice says abruptly.

Far from them but still we could see them. “You do know they are both wolves, they can hear us?” Becky says. “Don’t worry, they won’t!” I replied. “Okay, so what is it then?” “Listen, since you have that ability, I assume you are Brenda’s daughter, then.”

“I don’t like celebrations much. The coronation ceremony back in Wild Crawler was more than enough for me. It was… a little wild to say the least, so I think I’d rather stay in the clinic with Finnick and Erika.” “Well, I’m certainly excited to go,” Becky said, and her cheeks flushed pink. “I’ve picked out the perfect dress and everything. It’ll be my first big celebration with the Pack, and I’m definitely ready to get dressed up and do some dancing..” Marley’s face lit up, and she grinned at Becky. “Well, you know what, I’m very excited for you!” she said genuinely, and then she winked at my assistant. “Who knows, Becky, this might be your chance to find Mr. Right!”

Ben walked me home in order for us to have lunch together as I clutched our newly gifted artwork for the pack refrigerator. "Whats Sebastian's story?" I asked, thinking of the little boy bundled in my arms soaking my Luna aura for comfort. "His father was a warrior he was killed in duty before he was born. He lived with his grandparents and mother. Her name was Becky." Ben said as he paused. "Becky was one of the first Bear shifters killed by the hunters a few months ago. She was visiting a spot in the woods where she and her mate used to go in her bear form. The hunters spotted her and killed her." he replied.

Beckett, Luka, and I are sitting in the living room waiting for the others to arrive. The silence is deafening. "Sooo…" I speak up, freezing, when both of their heads turn towards me, "Are we going to discuss the elephant in the room, or are we just going to pretend that nothing happened?" "Nothing did happen, Katrina." Luka responds, "Power bonding is a normal occurrence; your mate just blew it out of proportion." I turn my head to focus solely on Beckett, waiting for his response. His cheeks are tinged pink, indicating that he's embarrassed about his behavior.

I hear the voice of Adams' wise man. I hear Beckam's sigh above my head, minutes after having him think of ways to introduce me to his pets, his hand rests on my hair and strokes it. It's such a strange gesture for us that we don't know what else to do. And the strangest? It doesn't feel bad. "Okay, I understand, I guess we shouldn't do it so abruptly," he admitted and I moved away a bit, my eyes were already revealing my fear of canines. "Aren't you going to give me the animals?"

No, this was about losing something that he thought he owned. Drake growled, and Samantha turned her head sharply in his direction. "All right, My Beast, don't start breathing fire. Vulcan watched this by-play with a great deal of humor. The woman shouldn't know his friend that well. But, it seemed that she did, indeed know him, and know him well.

"What are you talking about? Becca asks a confused look on her face, and from the corner of my eye, I can see a wide smirk appear on Owens's face, as he tells Becca how Rex and I finally mated. "OH, MY GODDESS, REALLY?" Becca screams loud causing me and Owen to cover our ears. Becca quickly stands up and runs over to me and pulls me into a hug. When she pulls away she grabs my chin and turns my head to the side to see my mate mark.
