And an arm was wrapped around her by a man who is clearly his mate, and he is also Alpha. Next to them was a boy who was like a teenager's kid and was also an Alpha. He was holding hands with a pretty lady with brown, shaggy hair and glasses. She was a beta. He saw the four of them make their way towards a table. Alex looked over at Ash and grabbed his hand gently as he led them to the table his siblings were at with their drinks in their free hands.

“I don’t know what kind of task there is, but one thing I’m sure of is that the main rule has never changed since this game started.” “What rule?” I asked as my heart thundered. I was not sure this was a good thing. “The Alpha who enters the game gets to take his right-hand man with him.” Danielle smiled widely at me. I felt my whole world collapsing. I hoped I was wrong. “His right-hand man?” She nodded eagerly. “Yes. Right hand, second in command. In short, to enter, he must take his Beta with him.” I was just staring at Danielle with my mouth open as my mind went blank before darkness took over.

We face each other as dad stands in the middle. “Beta Declan Mathers of the Invictus Pack has challenged potential Alpha, Amelia Dolivo for the Alpha title. This is a fight to the death. Whoever wins will be declared your new Alpha.” he announces to the pack who has gone deadly silent. “When you are ready, begin!” he exclaims and then runs back to his place by my mum.

“Where are Becca and the pup? Don’t make me ask again. Answer me! You’ve also captured one of my pack members without official notification, which means you are challenging me.” Now Alex's Beta and Gammas began to partially shift, prepared to defend their Alpha. "You want Becca, my pup, and the unlucky one who helped my mate escape a few times? Well, I've got bad news for you," Alex mocked the man. "Alex, my patience is not infinite. You might as well give them all to me now." But his rival continued to look at him sarcastically and made no effort to comply. The atmosphere turns grim as the Alphas stare each other menacingly in the face.

Just when I was about to give up, the door burst opened revealing beta Gideon in the room with a murderous look on his face. "Well, well, she who we have here?" The beta took two steps forward immediately he saw me, with his hands clapping against each other. "You seem to be such a wise little boy, not as dumb as your father. So you think you could overthrow me? We made a deal and now, you turn to break it. Perhaps, you should have thought about all this before you took this bow step of yours to fight me. I already told you that, I am Alpha of Shadow Pack and there is no one who is going to overthrow me or ever going to rule except me.” I rolled my eyes, feeling bored by his statement.

Terror rips through my body, I’m only able to tremble and weep like a little child. Even my tears don’t flow the way I need them to, they are as crippled as I am. “Good talk.” He pats my back and I flinch away from him. From his eyes, I see it’s all just a sick game to him and I was merely an unwanted chess piece standing in his way. The game had to play out how he wanted it to. He had to win, ofcourse. The dangerous Alphas’ obsession with winning was equally a strength that pushed them like madness to attain a goal no matter who or what needed to be gotten rid of.
