I can’t stop thinking that the person who sent the gift could have some bad intentions towards me and my baby. There’s always this constant worry and fear in the back of my head wherever I go. After class, I decided to head to the library one afternoon to look for a certain book that was needed for my lesson the following day. I spent almost thirty minutes in there trying to look for the book and doing some research which was going to be submitted in three days. I tried to focus on my studies and ignore the bugging thoughts about Jolene.

“Maybe he is too.” “It would be less complicating,” Richard mused. “One wolf to teach the ropes to at a time is enough.” “What do you mean?” Oliver asked. “She recognized me when she took human form. I explained to Brett that we’d met when she acted as your guide when you were looking for me so he assigned me the task of teaching her about being a wolf,” Richard explained.

Alizeh: 'I know, but I can't control my laugh! Varun: "I can say this also with that other meaning, but I am not like that na!" Alizeh: "I know that you are not like that, I know it really well knows! by the way when is my book coming!" Varun: "Maybe 23!" Alizeh: "Yayy, I will keep it with me always!" My chest tightened. “That’s…” “Yes.” I didn’t finish the sentence. Because I didn’t have a word for it yet. And maybe. I didn’t need one. I stayed there. Within the flow. Within the system that wasn’t controlled. Within the version of myself that was no longer just one point. And for the first time. I understood something clearly. Becoming more. Didn’t mean losing yourself. It meant redefining what “self” was. And whatever came next. Wouldn’t be about survival.

The man who sent them was real. I was not arguing otherwise. But looking at them now, in Daisy’s kitchen, six weeks into something that had required more of me than anything I had ever chosen, the present tense version of those texts was not who I was anymore. Not because I had decided to be different for Daisy’s benefit. Because the work of becoming someone who showed up in moments that cost something was its own change. It changed you as you did it. The choosing and the doing were not separate from the becoming.
