He turned and limped out of the room, his red robes trailing behind him like a river of blood. Once the door clicked shut, I didn't collapse. I didn't cry. I walked over to the obsidian mirror and looked at the camera lens hidden in the ornate carving—the one Thorne used to broadcast his decrees to the Spire. I knew my Alphas were watching.
