Theo's chest rose and fell in a peaceful rhythm, his small hand clutching his favorite stuffed bear tightly. "Mama, tell me a story," Theo whispered, his eyes fluttering open for a brief moment. Mama Hazel smiled, her voice soft and soothing as she began to weave a tale of magical lands and brave adventurers. Theo's eyes sparkled with wonder, his imagination taking flight as he listened intently to every word. Together, they journeyed through enchanted forests, crossed vast oceans, and braved mighty dragons. Theo's laughter filled the room, his tiny hands gesturing animatedly as he played out the scenes in his mind.

Grumble. Danial’s stomach betrayed him with a monstrous growl that seemed to echo off the walls of the room. His eyes widened in horror, and his face flushed red as embarrassment washed over him. I finally prayed. ‎ ‎I then walked to the bathroom for a cold shower and returned for a deeper reflection, which resulted in a loud growl emanating from my stomach. ‎“Stomach, can you let me think?" I asked gently rubbing my almost port belly. “I'm hungry too, you know.” ‎But my stomach didn't listen it just kept growling, that's when I heard a knock on my door. ‎ ‎“Who is it?" I doubted, with an arched brow. Praying it's not aunt Velma again.

My stomach betrayed me again. The loud growl echoed in my room, reminding me that I hadn’t eaten since morning. I had been lying on the bed crying since sunrise, and now it was almost evening. My eyes were swollen, my chest heavy, and my head ached. I wanted to keep lying there, but the hunger dragged me back. My body was weak. I pushed myself up slowly, dragging my feet to the door. Even the wooden handle felt heavy in my palm. With all my strength, I pulled it open.

Sometimes healing doesn’t need a fix. Sometimes it just needs a pause. That night, Ryan uploaded his first anonymous blog post to the campus bulletin site: “The people who say they love you might just want to own you. And the people who seem like enemies might be the ones who see you clearly. I’m not telling this story to expose anyone. I’m telling it so no one else has to stay quiet.” And that’s when the messages started rolling in. One. Then ten. Then fifty. From students. From strangers.

As I recall the feeling of him hugging me from behind, I start to get butterflies in my stomach and my heart begins to flutter. I finish bathing, go about the normal routine, and put on a plain t-shirt and a pair of white jean shorts. I'm feeling hungry now and my stomach starts to growl. I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. After I finished getting out I went to the kitchen to find something to eat. When I got to the living room I saw John and Emily watching together. And the boys were sitting across from them, I was surprised at who they had become.

Maria had only a sandwich for lunch and was hungry at the moment, but not too hungry that her stomach would roar like a starving dragon. The growl repeated.
