You’re the ink.” The Ink-Gabe smiled—a cold, sharp smile. “I’m the part of Gabe that the Market kept. The real Gabe is trapped in the Dark Void. But I have his memories. And I want to write a new ending.”

I am trying to be 'Ordinary'. She looked at the Golden Eye in the sky, which was pulsing with a satisfied, greedy light. It was enjoying the show. It was feeding on her grief. It was waiting for her to break. *But I am not a girl,* she realized. The violet light in her veins didn't just glow; it deepened. It turned into something darker than night, something heavier than the mountain. It turned into **Ink**. *I am not a character. I am the paper. I am the silence between the words. I am the thing that existed before the first 'Once Upon a Time' was ever whispered.*

Her charm bounced softly at the end of her bag, catching a glint of neon light as she turned down the next block. She kept her head low, her pace casual. The crowd helped her disappear. That was part of why she liked it here—being no one in particular. Across the street, a black car pulled up and slowed to a stop in front of a private entrance only a few knew existed.

But the second I did, it breathed. The book didn’t open. It unfolded. The cover split open in silence, pages spilling like silk, the air humming as the magic within adjusted to me. Not the other way around. I froze. There was no resistance. No permission asked. Just acceptance. Like the book had been waiting.
