The sentences trapping Dante, Marcus, and Raven dissolved into puddles of gray. “No!” Ink-Gabe screamed. He tried to grab the page, but his hands blurred at the edges. He was just ink, and the white page was poison to him. Dante felt the chains on his legs vanish. He raced to June, jumping over the fading words. “June, look at the book!” Dante shouted. The list of names inside was shifting. The red ink turned black. The names gathered together, twisting into a new shape. A giant door appeared, right in the middle of the white page—made from the same dark wood as the book.
