Best Bedtime Stories For Girlfriend Novels & Stories

"Of course, baby. But let me finish my coffee first." "So, you said you can't sleep?" I asked, leaning against the doorframe, trying to sound casual despite the fluttering in my stomach. Avery nodded. "We need our bedtime story," she said in a sad voice, and that simple statement broke my heart. Reading them a bedtime story was an important part of our nighttime routine. But I missed it tonight.

She looked sleepy already, her eyelids getting heavier. “Bedtime story?” she whispered. I tucked her in and sat beside her. Liam sat on the other side. She held both our hands tightly, refusing to let go. I read her favorite book until her breathing turned steady and her fingers loosened. Liam whispered softly, “She is asleep.” We slowly got up and walked out of the room, switching off the lights and leaving the door slightly open. In the hallway, Liam leaned his head against the wall and exhaled. “That felt good,” he said. “Being the three of us like that.”

She watched me. “Is this how you punish people?” she asked after a moment. “By dragging them through guilt?” I didn’t answer. Not because I didn’t have one but because she wasn’t ready for it. She kept talking anyway. “Because if it is,” she said, “then congratulations. You’re doing a brilliant job.” I almost smiled. Almost. But instead, I said, “Do you know her favorite bedtime story now?” Selene blinked. “What?” “Aria. Do you know what story makes her fall asleep when she’s having trouble?”

He thought she’s asleep when she stopped touching his scars and just rested her head on his chest with even breathing. He expected this night to be full of unforgettable conversations but as she was tired, he didn’t want to disturb her sleep and force her to talk. But now, her soft velvety voice is enough to drive away his demons. He pulled her body towards him with a chuckle and placed a kiss on the top of her head before opening his mouth to speak. “What story?” He never knew that his little wolf is interested in listening to stories before sleep. Did she pick that habit up from his daughter? Who is the baby between them by the way? Does this mean he should buy story books for his girls?

So I slid out of bed quiet, pulled on sweats, and went to the kitchen like I had a plan. I didn’t have a plan. I had G****e open on my phone from 3 a.m. when I couldn’t sleep. “How to take care of girlfriend on period.” Yeah, I read that shit. Read the comments too. Some dude said breakfast in bed works better than flowers. Another said listen and don’t try to solve it. Fine. I could do that. Probably.

I said and went inside first. I missed another chance to tell him. Perhaps, tomorrow I’d be able to tell him. Lucas settled between us and again I saw how Logan’s face showed disappointment. Was he planning to sleep beside me? “Mommy, can you tell me a story? It helps me to sleep easily.” Lucas turned to cuddle with me. “I am not good with stories but I’ll tell you one tonight about a little girl who was the princess of her parents just like you but one day, she was left alone.” I said.

The words taste bitter because I know I’m lying right now. They don’t look fully convinced, so to distract them, I flash a smile. “How about this… I’ll read your favorite bedtime stories tonight. Both of them. No arguments.” Their faces light up instantly. “Really?!” they exclaim in unison. “Really,” I say, rising to my feet with their hands still holding mine. “Go on, get settled in bed. I’ll be right there.” They race off instantly, their laughter echoing through the hallway, and my chest loosens a little.

"We were the best, right?" "Yeah. My best." I patted his head, sitting next to him. "So, which bedtime story do you want? The Princess and the Pea? Or your favorite, Toy Story?" They stayed silent for a long time, sharing glances before Powell murmured, "Just go to bed, Mum. You don't have to read any stories for us. We will sleep just fine without it." "What?" I dramatically placed my right palm on my chest. "Are you trying to tell me my babies are all grown? You don't need poor Mum anymore?"

I sighed. His black loungewear contrasted with the cream-colored bedsheets. I walked over, gently plucked the book from his grasp, and held it up with mock disapproval. I sat beside him and suggested, "Instead of reading, how about I tell you a bedtime story?" Amusement flickered in his eyes. "That drink is hitting you pretty hard," he said with a smirk tugging at his lips. I waved away his comment and patted my thigh invitingly. "Come on, it will put you to sleep fast! Don always liked to rest his head on my lap, and often fell asleep like that..."

"I want to stay with you now. I miss you so much." "I know, sweetheart. How about Mommy tells you a really fun story? You get some sleep, and when you wake up, I promise I'll stay a few extra hours with you. How does that sound?" "You promise?" "Pinky swear!" I cross my fingers and kiss them. "Okay." I help him get comfortable in bed and sit in a chair to start telling him the story. "I want the story of The Girl with the Red Hood." "Oh wow, that's not exactly a bedtime story, Alex!" I grumble. "How about something more…"
