Best Tales Of Games Novels & Stories

I tell him. “I agree, I could not fault him. I think we are done discussing Twisted Games, let us move on Twisted Lies, which is actually my favourite book out of all them,” Blake says. I think about my favourite book and I say to him, “My favourite book is actually Twisted Games, I really love Rhys and Bridget.”

Zoriana took a spoonful of soup, the flavours exquisite, but her appetite was gone. “Why so quiet, Alpha?” Mounia asked gently. “Mounia,” Zoriana said, her gaze fixed on the steam rising from her bowl. “Would you recognise a monster the moment you saw one?” Mounia sighed, a sound that seemed to carry the weight of many years lived. “I have seen many. Some wear their ugliness on their skin. Others hide it behind beauty, gold and sweet words. But the most dangerous ones, Zoriana, are the Grey ones. They aren’t pure evil, but they aren’t good either. These people are the most dangerous, they are underestimated, unpredictable, and capable of doing anything.”

Luca finished gently, sitting beside her. Her eyes flicked to him. “Exactly. I want to fight that. I want to write stories that make them answer for what they’ve done. Loan sharks, corrupt businessmen, all of them.” “You’d be amazing at that,” he said without hesitation. “You’re stubborn as hell and you don’t shut up when you know you’re right. Perfect journalist material.” She laughed, swatting at his arm. “That’s the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me.”

The floor was sparkly and the books were neatly arranged, but I could feel the dust beneath the shelf as I ran my right hand on the smooth wood. Twice in a day. Same straightforward question, the same tight-lipped response. Like Camille, had something sinister happened to the rest of the family? Was Salvatore… dead?. Why won't anyone tell me anything? What was the family hiding?! I swept through the books, not the new ones, but the old ones kept away on a special-looking shelf. Most of them were about the Axtons, history, journals, and keep stakes from their previous lives in the mafia world. I read a few pages from one of the books and my wonderment went up a notch.

Darren asked, his curiosity overwhelming him as he rose from his feet; slowly shuffling towards a large white cooler. Elika watched him as she thought, her mind overwhelmed by the urge to test out the television to see if he was speaking the truth, placing her hands neatly onto her knees as she began to speak, her tone low and light. “We have loads of games sir, especially when its winter, just stuff that everyone can participate in outside, like when my father rallies up his prisoners and ties apples to their heads and we have to shoot them off with arrows.” Darren chuckled slightly, reaching for a small can from the cooler as he turning towards the princess; his tone appearing friendly. “D

Before I could finish, Owen's fists slammed into my leg over and over, forcing me backward. "It's all your fault! You're the bad guy! You're bullying Mom! Mom and Dad fight because of you every day! Mom cries because of you every day!" I froze. I couldn't understand how I'd already given up everything and was still somehow the villain. I tried to explain things to him, but the little boy had completely lost control. He grabbed a glass from the coffee table and threw it at my face. "Ah—!" I wasn't fast enough to dodge, and the glass pierced my eye.

My head was a mess. Gaming was my usual safe haven. My Zen space. The one place where a little wimp like me could be a powerful martial artist or a world-class athlete at the flick of a button. I sat down in my gaming chair, put on my headset, and loaded up Mortal Kombat 11. Time to kick some ass! I found my favorite lobby where serious gamers hung out and opened a challenge. I chose Liu Kang, the world’s greatest warrior. My opponent chose Skarlet, the blood witch.

as Frank so eloquently puts it, we settle into an easy conversation. "Alright, let’s play a game.” He says, swirling his wine. I raise an eyebrow. "This isn't some drinking game, is it?" He feigns offense. "Maria, please. I am a serious journalist–” "Food blogger.” I correct. “Serious food blogger.” He amends without missing a beat. "And this is a serious game." I sigh. "Fine. What’s the game?" "It’s called ‘Worst Meal, Best Story.’ You tell me about the worst thing you’ve ever eaten, but it has to come with a great story."

Matteo asks, only now noticing the absence of our missing companions. "They had to sort something's out with an officer" I reply vaguely. "I told you that you should have just let me bribe them, we would have already had the police in our pockets by now if you hadn't stopped me." "Bribes cause greed, blackmail creates loyalty" I remind my brother, making him shake his head and walk away. But, despite my brothers reservations, I know from presonal experience that blackmail is way more powerful than any bribe. "There he is" Gino announces, stopping and pointing up.

It's all a fantasy. Fable has been my escape. An unhealthy one. A safe pretend world where I could bury myself. Just like how Zee cried after she finished the final Harry Potter book, or how Jamie bases so much of her worth on the fictional version of herself that lives across a thousand Instagram pics, in the comments and likes of a thousand strangers. Just carefully constructed lies to comfort and lull. Dreams.
