After Taste
I tried to close my eyes, but his image lingered, my mind consumed by a whirlwind of thoughts.
Tears welled up in my eyes, silent and unshed. It wasn't the act itself that made me cry, but a different kind of pain. I wiped away the tears and turned to the man beside me. I shifted closer, turning to face him, and gently traced the outline of his face. His breathing was deep and even, indicating he was fast asleep, exhausted. A bitter smile touched my lips. How could I have so easily given myself to someone I didn't know? It felt like I'd stabbed myself in the heart.
