Plaything in one's palm

Plaything in one's palm

"Just information. Look into it. Think about what you truly want. For yourself." He pressed the card into Lynn's hand, his fingers brushing against Lynn's palm in a way that felt intentional. "A caged bird's wings atrophy, Lynn. Even the most beautiful songbird needs to fly free to remember its song. Don't you forget yours." With a final, meaningful look, Marcus turned and melted back into the crowd, leaving Lynn standing frozen, the business card burning a hole in his hand. The metal sculpture of the caged bird seemed to mock him. The offer was on the table. Freedom was a plane ticket and a recommendation away. But at what cost? The serpent was offering him the apple, and the hunger was a g

Betrayed, But Redeemed.

Betrayed, But Redeemed.

I glanced at Raphael, seeing the same conflict mirrored in his eyes. "We’ll listen," I said finally. "But if you betray us…" Victor’s smile disappeared, his expression deadly serious. "I won’t. You have my word." It wasn’t much, but it was all we had. For Fiona’s sake, I had to hope it would be enough.

The Rejected Curvy Luna Queen

The Rejected Curvy Luna Queen

The heart's song wasn't a weapon; it was a *mourning*. Rhydian collapsed, the heart's light now fused with his scar. "It's a memory," he gasped. "The goddess wants us to *remember*. Not just the Betrayal... but what came before." The Keeper bowed her head. *"The song was never yours to control. It is a requiem. To heal, you must listen."*

Trapped Like A Caged Bird

Trapped Like A Caged Bird

I was shocked. Irene had always topped up the bank card. How was it possible that it was no longer working? I called the company’s finance colleague with trembling hands. The colleague stuttered, “Mr. Smith, Ms. Anderson has already passed your bank cards to Mr. Reid. She said she’ll recover the cards once you’ve learned your lessons.” My phone slipped from my hand. I no longer had time to look into it. I quickly went to the office to see Zac. I was shaking violently.

Betrayer

Betrayer

I told him in a breathy tone. “Good girl,” he said, patting my leg. “What did you learn?” “I know who he is. I know who the Betrayer is.” Philip’s hand slipped up my thigh and under my skirt with a look of shock. My hand flinched towards the blade hidden away in my wrist cuff. Now recovered, he leered at me as he said, “Very good girl. I promise to reward you well for this.” His hand slid higher up my leg. “So tell me what is he calling himself in this life?”

Susie
Such a good story! The story flows well. Doesn’t go on too long describing a vibe or paragraphs of how one foliage growing on a home looks like (looking at you, Anne Rice). Seriously, though, “Jilguera” is a wonderful storyteller. Read this story. It’s so good.

Creative show not tell like of story. Unique and dosent have “breaks” or emotional slow parts. Love the diversity and embracing unconventional circumstances. Also it’s not to long or drawn out, it’s just the right length. A delightful afternoon read 10/10 thank you!

Seduction & Betrayal

Seduction & Betrayal

O'Grady was trying to scare him but that was like a clown fish scaring a whale, obviously not working. "Do I look stupid to you? Do you honestly think that I would keep a secret from you?" brent tried to sound offended, but he quickly gave up the charade. "If I have secrets then I have them for a reason! We may be brothers but I just met you the other day, I can't just trust you because we share the same genes." "Point taken, doona get yer paties all in a bunch! Just remember that I know of the plan ye and Michael discussed so in case ye leave without me or try to, I'll be hunting ye down!" O'Grady smiled as he walked away.

The Triumph Of An Alpha

The Triumph Of An Alpha

Reed knew that there was no way he could talk his way out of this “Oh that's right. I had always known that you were a traitor. I told the Alpha about it but he never listened. You know, all those powerful men. They never want to listen to ordinary people.“ Lin kissed his teeth as he took few steps forward but Reed wouldn't give up that easily. He took to his heels, dragging her along with him, that wasn't a very smart move from his path as Lin aimed an arrow at him and it hit him on the right shoulder

Satisfying Her Darkest Fantasies

Satisfying Her Darkest Fantasies

Trey said something to him that Reagan couldn’t hear and Brian nodded. Trey slipped a pair of earbuds into each ear and then after a few seconds climbed the steps and trotted across the stage in the darkness. Jace followed him and then Brian ascended the stairs. Reagan moved to stand near the bottom of the steps beside Sed, who was waiting for his cue to enter the stage. Someone handed Reagan a set of earphones. Dave grinned up at her from his wheelchair when she accepted them. She put them on and could hear Rebekah giving out instructions to the band, and then she could hear Eric and Jace start the low-toned intro to Sinners’ latest single, “Betrayed.” She’d never seen them play this song l

As I look at my year in review, this author and book collection has been monumental in reigniting my hunger for reading. I can't track most of the books from this app easily for my year end count but in my heart this book means the most. I wish I could buy a printed version of each of these. .........

Love this well written book! Thoughts & emotions are conveyed beautifully! The author makes you feel like you know the characters intimately w/o being excessive or mundane. Hot & steamy w/o crude vulgarity! I wish we could give gems at the end of chapter but that’s the app, not the author’s fault.
