I nodded my head and stretched my hands to the door, having her the signal. She got there. I stopped again with her body in-between, then she spoke. “On a second thought, just a piece of advice.” Folding her lips into a thinner layer. “I know that you love him, but there are some things that are mightier than Love, there are things that are better than love. Love is not everything you can give or offer to someone you claim to love.” My forehead crinkled in worry and confusion as I tried to understand what she was saying to me. “What do you mean? I’m not quite following.”

He didn’t say he just liked her, he used the word “love.” That word carried so much more weight, so much more depth than simply saying he liked her. It was clear that she was drunk, but her words were steady, meaningful, almost as if she wasn’t drunk at all.
