A Little Stepmother in Trouble
Tonight, before bed, he was taking their temperatures, because clearly they were coming down with something.
He crept closer, careful not to make a sound, and stopped just beneath the tree to listen.
"Mommy, now tell us the story about the moon and the sun," he heard Victoria's little voice say.
He didn't know what it was about that girl that turned him to mush. Something about the sound of her voice, those big eyes.
"No, Mommy," Gabriel cut in this time. "Tell us another one with wizards and dragons."
"Yeah, Mommy. In the last one there was a wizard who was just as grumpy as Daddy when he yells at us."
