"When this all falls apart, and it will, don't come crying to me. Don't expect me to pick up the pieces when your biker boyfriend ends up in prison or worse."
"I won't," Em said simply, and the certainty in her voice made my chest tighten. "Goodbye, David."
David looked between us one more time, and I could see him trying to find some last argument, some final plea that would change her mind. But whatever he saw in Em's face, in the way she stood beside me without fear or doubt, made him give up.
He turned and walked out of the chapel, his footsteps echoing on the old wooden floor.
The door slammed behind him.
