I looked down the hallway and through the other side, and there was actually no one in sight. My heart hammered as I approached the large double office doors with D. BLACKWOOD engraved on the metal plate. I forced my trembling hand to knock. No answer. Great. I knocked again. Still nothing. Screw it. I pushed the door open— —and froze in place. Damian Blackwood sat behind his massive black desk. Sharp suit. Cuffed sleeves. Jaw tight enough to crack a diamond. He didn’t look up at me. Not even a glance. I opened my mouth to speak but was cut off by his deep voice.

You guys can go ahead, just watch out for snakes. "Awe." Cairo fusses, but Sebastian ruffles his hair lovingly. "Let's give dad a little time to recuperate." River orders, nodding at Sebastian who returns it with a grateful smile. Moments later Sebastian shrugs out of his jacket and greets Kinsey, the stout, middle-aged butler dressed the part. "Good afternoon, Kinsey." "Good afternoon, master Black." Kinsey's melodic voice and accents floats in the air and Sebastian smiles. "May I take your coat, sir?"

He looks around and notices the familiarity of the room he is staying in. This room is perturbingly familiar, he thinks. The stranger comes back, bringing a black suit with a black bow tie. “You are going to wear this from this day forth,” the stranger says, “as the prince’s butler.”

“Michael Luther!” the old butler lowered his voice and bellowed. “I’m sure you don’t want Mr. Stewart to learn about that incident too, do you?!” The old butler’s dull eyes clearly showed his age, yet in contradiction to other elderlies of his age, his eyes carried a fierce and sinister look. The person on the other end of the call fell silent for a moment. The old butler’s tightly-furrowed brows loosened up slightly… ‘Glad that you’re scared.’

The Butler openly states, showing delightful wrinkles on his face. "I do too, and thank you, Sebastian. I am home," She expresses as she halts her feet. Sebastian, their Butler, is a man in his sixties, and he towers all the working maids, gardeners in the mansion. His chocolate-like eyes are soft and kind that reflects his characteristic inside. Even though his grey hair is revealing, everyone could tell he was a marvelous man in his teenage years. Furthermore, he looks flawless in his mono-color black uniform. "Why did you not give us advance notice of your return, Lady Veronica?" Sebastian asks curiously with a confused expression.

It was time to wake up. I turned to reassure the children, who immediately hugged me. “I’ll make you another headband, Gracie dear. Don’t worry.” I looked around us to make sure we weren’t making a spectacle and saw the hastily averted eyes full of derision and even disgust on the faces of some of the female werewolves. The men didn’t look much kinder. “Excuse me,” a male voice said to my left, and I looked to see the beta butler standing there in white tie complete with gloves. He held up a hand. “If you’ll give that to me, I’ll have it cleared and returned to Miss Grace.”

A savage growl echoed, followed by a horrible sound of flesh being torn. Adrian, still in crow form, tilted his head on the branch, watching everything coldly. “Pathetic,” he cawed, bored. The butler tried to crawl away, his hands shaking and his face dirty with earth and blood. His eyes met those of the panther, which now walked slowly toward him, its muzzle dripping with the blood of the wolf it had just killed. “Please…” Blackwell begged. “I just wanted to live… I just wanted to be like you…”

I cut him off impatiently as we geared towards the front door. It abruptly opened and in front of us was an old butler. My eyes narrowed, he looked human. To make more caution, I threw a dose of wolfsbane powder at him. It had no effect, only making him cough instead with a frown on his face. “Can I help you gentlemen?” “He seems human.” Sebastian whispered from behind me. I scowled deeply, “We’re looking for someone. Asher Blackwood and Aurora Thompson to be precise.” I studied his face greatly for any sign of a facade, he remained stoic, eyes expressionless, “I don’t think I know who that is.”
