All the characters in the books, except that small characters and passersby, are psychopaths! The butler stated and I let out a forced smile. “I'm okay,” I answered politely, but deep inside, I was cursing that psychopath villain in my heart. Seeing that the carriage has stopped, I glanced at the butler and asked, “we're here?” The butler politely smiled at me and nodded his head. “Yes, we're here.”

She had just placed her phone on the table when there was a knock on the door. She said, “Enter,” and a man in his forties stepped inside. He wore a black tailcoat and a hat, with a few strands of white hair on his head. He entered and bowed in front of her. “Good morning, Madam. I’m the butler of the Whitmore mansion. My name is William Smith, but please, you can call me Will, as the master does.”

“But you never learn, do you?” The sound of footsteps broke the tension as Blaze’s butler appeared, flanked by two security guards. His expression was calm, but his eyes flashed with unmistakable authority. “Is there a problem here, Mrs. Black?” he asked, his voice polite but firm. Summer’s eyes widened as she looked between us, realization dawning. “Mrs. Black?” “Yes,” he said, his tone clipped. “You’ve been harassing my master’s wife. That won’t be tolerated.” He turned to the guards. “Escort this woman out of the premises. She’s no longer welcome here.”

A savage growl echoed, followed by a horrible sound of flesh being torn. Adrian, still in crow form, tilted his head on the branch, watching everything coldly. “Pathetic,” he cawed, bored. The butler tried to crawl away, his hands shaking and his face dirty with earth and blood. His eyes met those of the panther, which now walked slowly toward him, its muzzle dripping with the blood of the wolf it had just killed. “Please…” Blackwell begged. “I just wanted to live… I just wanted to be like you…”

The other man was dressed in all black, and he had a hat on that covered his face. They shook hands, and the man left the mansion as the butler returned to the house.

Her vision blurred and her eyes watered. No, this can't be happening. Her hand went to his face. It was cold and hard. And his skin, it had started changing color. "Master!?" The Butler seemed about to have a heart attack and he let out a loud curse. Hailey looked up at him, trying to muster up a word. "W-what is wrong with him." But the Butler's attention wasn't on her. He brought out his phone and started fiddling with it. He didn't seem to have a firm grip. Then he tossed his phone and sprang up to run for the stairs.

A young woman, after all, was never sure when a suitable suitor may come calling. A cadaverous person dressed in black livery suddenly appeared just above her left shoulder as she tilted her head to the side to view her reflection. “Wilbury!" she exclaimed as she put her palm to her racing heart. "You need to quit sneaking up on me like that. I would have assumed you were a vampire if you hadn't had a reflection.” The butler's puckered face was sporting its usual frown, but there was a distinct sparkle of delight in his rheumy eyes.
