The butler’s voice was barely a murmur. “The Duke of Blackwood.” Her breath caught in her throat. He descended the stairs slowly, every step deliberate. The storm outside cracked against the windows, but in that moment the only sound she heard was the echo of his boots against the marble floor.

His dark hair has turned grey, speaking of his ageing. Automatically, I backed away as my back hit the cold wall behind me. "No, don't be scared, child. I am not here to hurt you." He said, soft and calm. But, I am not having it. Not anymore. I would like to stay alone rather than trust any single person in this psychotic place...
