Around five o’clock, the late-afternoon sun hung low in the sky, turning the world into a palette of amber, rose, and deepening indigo. They left Aurora Cove behind in Johnny’s sleek black SUV, the engine purring softly as they wound down the private gravel road that connected the cabin to the main highway. Charlotte pressed her forehead to the passenger window, eyes wide and bright. The scenery unfolded like a living painting: tall pines giving way to rolling meadows dotted with wildflowers, the occasional glimpse of a distant lake shimmering gold in the fading light, and every so often a deer lifting its head from the grass to watch them pass.

My heart clenched in sudden terror, and I instinctively shrank backward, trying to hide myself in the shadows of the firelight. Within seconds, Barrett's silhouette burst through the dilapidated doorway. He was soaked to the bone, his hair plastered messily against his forehead. Clayton and Camden hopped onto the vehicle as they set off toward the pack house. As they drove to the pack house Camden took in all the beautiful sights. The forest here was different to the one in the Silver Pine Pack territory. The trees smelled different and there were huge, glorious mountains here. It was truly a breathtaking sight. "You OK?" Clayton whispered in her ear. She looked at him and nodded, a small smile playing on her lips, reassured by his presence.

The sun filtered through tall trees like spilled gold, dappling the soft forest floor with light and shadow. Birds chirped overhead, and a light breeze carried the earthy scent of moss and wildflowers. Not far away, the lake shimmered like a mirror tossed onto the world. The campers wandered toward the clearing near the water, where cushions, clipboards, and sketchpads were already waiting beneath the trees.

Isobel hummed quietly to herself while she sketched the conifers trees with the mountain behind them. The scene was captivating with the bright green of the trees and the blue-black of the mountain range. The beauty of Colorado in the spring was another reason she knew that she could paint again. Leaning back on the camping chair, she glanced at the clear pale-blue sky. A shy smile on her face as she thought about Kyle and the soft kisses he’s given her. If she wasn’t so scared of how he would react when he saw the scars, she would be bolder with him. Try to see where deep, hard kisses would lead.

She was barely able to keep herself conscious, giving in to her need to rest, she fell back to sleep once more. Sky found a small clearing that led to a beautiful lake, surrounded by the natural meadow. It looks like she had stumbled on the place by chance as it was clearly cut off from the rest of the forest. The unnatural growth of so many floras seemed to act like a barrier which everyone avoided; Sky had somehow found this beautiful place. The flowers and fields were like scenery painted by a professional painter. The canopy of trees surrounding the area was surreal; it allowed small rays of sunlight to filter through a few pocket holes in the shades, making it more scenic.
