Sinking to the floor, she closed her eyes. The Black Cliff was plunged into the darkness of the night, illuminated by blinding flashes of lightning. The sea and the sky staged an unspoken battle: the opened whirlpool twisted a lone ship in its grip, high waves rolled noisily onto the shore, hit rocks and protruding reefs. The terrified sailors held on to the masts, but the raging elements flooded the deck, flowed down the cut-water onto a mermaid-amulet carved from wood. From the bright flashes, the face of the sea maiden turned into a grinning mask, and the tail was hidden by another wave, wanting to separate the "wooden mermaid" from the hull and pull it into its arms. “Why are you helping us?” His gaze flicks to me, then away. “You looked like you needed a moment to get away.” He mumbles, clearly a bit embarrassed to have been caught in the act. I can only stare at him. The path Lloyd leads us down is hidden—so well-tucked behind thorny bramble and overgrown brush that, had he not been with us, we would’ve walked right past it. The forest opens into a hushed clearing, the trees parting like a curtain to reveal a breathtaking bluff that overlooks the valley below. The moon spills its pale light across everything, catching on the river like silver thread and lighting up the fog with a soft, ghostly glow.

The moon hung high in the dark blue sky, casting its radiant light on the sea, shimmering like fish scales. Here was a steep cliff. Looking down from here, I could only see the white foam splashing at the bottom of the cliff. A few slender, tender cypress trees grew below the rugged cliff, stretching out a few branches, basking in the precious sunlight and rain amid the huge waves at the cliff's edge. My legs almost gave way, and I knelt on the ground. I lifted the black hood covering my head, finally not needing to suppress my breathing and heartbeat, and began to cough without reservation.

The scenery was breathtakingly beautiful as if it had been painted by a master artist. The air was alive with the sweet melody of birds singing in the valley, and the soft breeze caressed Chloe's cheeks. If she closed her eyes and focused, she could hear the gentle murmur of a stream as it flowed between the two towering cliffs.

His heart both leaped and fell into an emotional turmoil within him. Cliffhanger was ready to go and started to run as soon as the prince was on his back. The view was amazing: mountains off in the distance to his right with their white peaks shrouded in clouds and snow. Only a few clouds were visible above him, unlike the gray days of the trip out of Rylltòl.

Their branches were starting to revive from the dead of winter, small green blossoms freckling the twigs still attached. Other trees had a bed of yellowed pine needles piled at the base of the tree. The tip of the trees just scraped the plush, white clouds residing in the azure sky.

Nick~ Harley and I walk with Lauren and Cass to the water's edge. The sky over the lake is a deep shade of purple with puffs of clouds here and there. Perfect beams dance on the waves from a bright yellow moon high in the veil. The Sauther mountains are now in full view; the black mounds stand bold against the plum sky bordering the lake. I've never seen anything like it! As far as you can see, the mountainside is lit with the soft glow of homes built on its ledges.
