“They couldn’t fight back.”
Damien’s jaw clenched.
Robin Hood’s hand lifted slightly, then fell back to his side, as if even the movement cost him something.
“And then the shots started,” he said.
The words came slower now.
“They didn’t miss,” Robin Hood added. “Not once. Silver bullets. Straight through the heart. Through the head.” He paused, his throat tightening slightly before he forced himself to continue. “And when that wasn’t enough…”
He exhaled sharply, as if pushing the rest of the memory out.
