I stood on the spot dumbfounded as I tried to understand what just happened. I could see the disdain in her eyes when she rejected me, there was also a hint of anger in her eyes. I knew that there is a high chance that I will be rejected if my mate is not a rogue like but being rejected with disdain made me angry. I knew that she must have felt the aura on my body which made her realize that I was a rogue but being rejected as soon as she saw me hurt my pride.

No longer captive. Reborn predator.

Queen Mother Rhea smiled at me with a cold gleam in her eyes and slowly raised her small silver dagger. The warm candlelight from the iron wall sconces reflected off the sharp edge of the polished blade. I tightened my grip on the heavy brass candlestick in my left hand and prepared to swing it at her head if she lunged forward. Rhea did not charge across the room or try to stab me in the chest with her weapon. She paced across the black marble floor with a slow and calculated grace while she inspected my ruined appearance.

I asked out loud. “You don’t have to speak, Eva. We are one. I know your thoughts, and you will learn to read mine as well. We can silently communicate with each other through a mindlink. You need to get ready. Do you have anything here that you want to take with you?” Meari asked. “No, I don’t. I just want to leave. But were Tori and Keefe reborn, too?” I asked. “Since the Moon Goddess put us back a month’s time. They are fine. They are alive, and since they won’t have to come here to rescue you, they will not be killed. Not until their time comes,” Meari replied. I sagged in relief at hearing that.

"The girl you once knew, the one you believed you had killed." Rowland's expression froze, his features contorted with shock and disbelief. His voice quivered as he responded, "But... How is this possible? I thought I had ended your life." Tears welled up in my eyes as I recounted the tale of my rebirth, the intervention of a vengeful soul seeking justice for her daughter's untimely demise. I explained how I was given another chance, my spirit reborn within a new vessel, with the memories of my past intact.
