Layla only smiles and bows her head graciously.
“They’re not wrong that there’s a curse on them,” Jasper says, “and they’re not even wrong that the curse has to do with their relationship to my family.”
“That doesn’t sound good,” Nash says nervously.
“No, no, it’s okay,” Orsina insists. “The curse is activated when the families are cruel to each other. That’s why the fighting just kept making everything worse and worse. What they think is a prophecy is actually a blessing of friendship and binding.”
