The car swerved through traffic, horns blaring as they cut across lanes. The city blurred past in streaks of neon signs, towering buildings, and people living normal lives completely unaware of the blood and chaos speeding by. Lily held the dog close to her chest, whispering a lullaby their mother used to sing when they were little, her voice cracking on every note.
