The dagger used in the Blood Pact of the first kings?” Rael nodded. “The same.” Sienna took a cautious step closer. “Why is it here?” Rael didn’t answer right away. Instead, they reached out—and the moment their fingers grazed the dagger’s hilt, the temple screamed.

The blade sang, a clear, piercing note that split the silence, and symbols flared along its edge, igniting one by one. A vision slammed into me. Moonlight over a blood-soaked field. Wolves kneeling in a circle. Selene standing at the center, younger, fierce, her hands steady as she drove the dagger into the earth. An oath, her voice echoed inside my skull. Then the temperature plummeted.

“Get used to that. Learn it. Master it until it becomes part of you.” Lylah gazed down at the dagger with a smile, her eyes lingering on every detail. It was crafted from fine, sharp moonsteel; its hilt wrapped in black leather. It was slightly heavy, but with enough practice, she was sure it would feel light in her hand. Elara's POV Silence had fallen over the coastal city. I stood on the balcony of my small, rented apartment, pulling a silver dagger from the leather satchel at my hip. It was the last thing my father gave me, its hilt carved with the ancient runes of our pack. Moonlight caught the edge of the blade, glinting cold and sharp. I tightened my grip and drew a deep cut across my left palm. Blood welled up instantly, a vibrant crimson in the moonlight.

Each piece is more ornate than the last. Spears tipped with obsidian. Crowns twisted with iron and bone. Daggers so delicate they looked like they could bleed air. His eyes locked on the middle blade—a silver dagger with a blackened hilt shaped like two wings crossed in flight. It shimmered faintly. Faint glyphs, once hidden, now caught the low torchlight, glowing like embers beneath the surface. “Why this one?” he thought, breath shallowing. “Why does it look like it’s waiting for me?”

I watched the dagger fall to the floor, it had an obsidian blade with silver and black runes that ran through the center, I looked up and eyed this woman, her demeanor didn't change but the frightened look seemed genuine.
