The candle’s weak light barely reached past the doorway, leaving everything beyond it in complete darkness. I hesitated for only a second before stepping forward. As soon as I did, the temperature dropped. The air turned frigid, like we had just stepped into a frozen grave. My breath fogged in front of me, and Beth let out a quiet gasp as she hugged her arms to her chest.
