Before sighing, I pressed my thumb against my forehead. The light began to blink, turning on and off, making the face darker in the process. "What is going on?" Merry shared the expression with me. "No need to worry; I will contact management right away!" The poster that was pinned against the elevator door contains emergency numbers. The elevator halted, and the lights began to blink. My head began to spin with these blinking lights, and my fingers did not touch the emergency phone numbers. My body stepped back, pressed against the elevator door. The lights turned off!

Not blinking. Something really isc razy. I feel it deep in my bones.

I rolled my eyes tiredly, wondering if he even remembered the blinking rule for affirmation. "Tell me, did you get it wrong the first time? Blink twice if yes," this time, I carefully gave my instructions, and he immediately blinked twice. It felt odd, or maybe he was telling the truth. Perhaps he did mishear the first time. "Okay! Why don't you want me to help you shower and change your clothes?" I leaned over him, my hands behind my back. "Is it because I make you uncomfortable?" I asked, knowing he understood the rule of blinking twice for yes and once for no. He blinked once.

“No. It was—blurred. I couldn’t see it.” “Good.” The word landed strangely. I frowned. “Good?” His gaze met mine, steady and intent. “It means you weren’t remembering. You were being shown something that hasn’t happened yet.” The room went very still. “A warning,” I said. “Yes.” “Warnings can be wrong.” “They can,” Lucian agreed. “They can also be altered.” Blaze leaned forward slightly, forearms resting on his knees. “Or stopped.” Raven didn’t say anything.

I dragged. Then after a short pause, I continued: “...don’t scream. Don’t alert anyone. And answer only what I ask.” He twitched. “Blink if you understand.” He gave a single miserable blink. “Good. You blink once for yes. Twice for no.” I exhaled. He nodded, then winced. I waited for a few precious seconds. The air between us pulled taut. “Are there more of you inside?” Blink. Blink. No.

We looked at each other. "We move faster," I said. "Yes," he agreed. I looked out the window. In the street below, a dark car was parked where no dark car had been when I arrived. Its lights were off. Its engine was running - I could see the faint exhaust in the cold night air. "He is still watching," I said. "Or someone is," Elias replied. "The someone may not be him." I looked at the car for a long moment. The brake lights flickered once - not in the motion of a car about to depart, but with the specific, controlled brevity of a signal. Once. Brief. Deliberate.

And a red light blinked to life. Recording.

“Is this normal to you? At the front, above the suggestion of a driver’s seat, a dead black rectangle blinked to life. Green digital letters scrolled across it, flickering in and out:

"Let's go downstairs and watch some TV." Bonnie frowned, "uhh, are you mocking me or something?" She asked Lorenzo mentally face palmed, "No-umm-I mean, I have a blindfold-" Bonnie giggled, "So you want to go downstairs and watch TV with me, a blind girl while wearing a blindfold?" Lorenzo cleared his throat, "Yes." He firmly said, raising his chin up. Bonnie only shrugged, "Alright." They went downstairs and sat on the huge leather couch. Lorenzo switched on the TV and handed the blindfold to Bonnie. "Care to help?" She smiled and took the blindfold from him. Bonnie put the blindfold over his eyes and he turned around making it easier for Bonnie to tie it.

"Is that a yes or a no?" He blinked thrice. "Okay, does that mean both yes and no?" She chuckled. He blinked once. "Wow, you're adding a new rule to this game." She smirked. "Okay so yes and no. Do you mean she sounded happy but also sad?" He blinked once. "Hmm." She pondered for a second. "Maybe she was sad that you're hurt but also happy because you're still alive." He blinked four times. "Is that supposed to mean 'maybe'?"
