Sinking into his familiar, intoxicating scent of sandalwood and rain, she let out a long, quiet sigh of absolute relief.
"I'm more than alright," Avery whispered, leaning up to press her lips against his in a sweet, lingering kiss. She pulled back slightly, her eyes sparkling with quiet triumph as she patted the top of the cardboard box resting on her lap. "I got it, Damien. All of it. Mom's master ledger and the trust documents are right here."
A dark, intensely proud smirk curled Damien's lips. He reached over, pressing a tender, lingering kiss to her forehead before cupping the back of her head, resting his cheek against hers.
