His eyes gleam like coals buried deep, fury bright. We clash again. Fang on fang, claw on claw, our bodies a blur of violence. He lunges for my throat. I twist, his teeth snap air, and I rake my claws down his face, leaving three red stripes across his muzzle. He howls, staggered, and I surge forward, jaws locking around his scruff.

"And your soul belongs to the crows." Jax stepped forward, his claws extending into long, obsidian blades that dripped with dark energy. The crystal fused physically into the palm of his hand, its light turning his veins a glowing purple. "You are too late, Marcus," Jax growled, his jaw unlocking as his inner wolf pushed to the surface. "The Earth belongs to the Blood Moon now. Look upon your executioner!" With a sudden explosion of supernatural speed that left a trail after-images in the air, Jax launched himself across the basin, his claws aimed directly at Marcus’s throat.

Wolfs heal from most things even wolfbane, but not silver or if a part of the body is removed. “Any other of your claws that are like this one?” I ask and she shakes her head tears running over her face and blood coming from her finger. “Any other claws Danielle?” I ask in my king’s voice, knowing she can’t lie if I do. She tries to shake her head but her other hand is raised to me with a pointed claw already out. I snarl at her and remove it from her hand as well. Earning another painful scream.

Trixie's POV “Hey! Over here! There’s one left in the crash!” The shouting felt like a punch to my ears as I opened my eyes, but the world was just a spinning vortex of black and orange. My head banged with a rhythm so violent I thought my skull might actually crack open. Coughing through a cloud of smoke, I dragged my body forward, scraping my knees and hands as I struggled to crawl out of the wreckage of the car. The second I tumbled out onto the grass and collapsed, the nightmare hit me.

Get your hands off me!" I shoved Caleb’s chest. Hard. He hit the reinforced headboard with a crack that sounded like a dry branch snapping. I didn't care. My vision was a jagged landscape of silver and white. Every pulse of my heart sent a wave of liquid fire through my veins, a metallic itch that made me want to peel my own skin off. My claws—black, curved, and dripping with a grey, viscous fluid—dug into the silk sheets, shredding them into confetti.

Blood sprayed in dark arcs that caught the strange, too-bright moonlight and glittered like spilled ink. The Crimson Claw pack was smaller but fiercer, red-brown fur flashing like embers. They fought dirty: going for throats, hamstrings, eyes. One of them, a lean female with white streaks on her flanks, leapt onto the back of a Silverfang warrior and clamped her jaws around his neck. He thrashed, yelped once, went still.

His pupils bled to black-red until there was nothing but a bottomless void. Then came the claws. They tore through his gloves first, then through skin as if the flesh couldn’t contain them. They weren’t normal claws; they were long, curved, slick as obsidian, veined faintly red as though blood had frozen inside them. His shirt shredded, seams popping one after another until it fell in ribbons off his shoulders. I backed against the wall, my legs shaking so hard they barely held me. “Saint…” It came out in a weak whisper, but he didn’t even glance at me.

The edges were as sharp as a knife that can cut through anything. I marveled at their elegance as examined them more. The claws curved gracefully, resembling the talons of some mystical creature from a fantastical realm. Their beauty was captivating, almost hypnotic, and it was impossible to tear my gaze away from them. The contrast between the silvery-blue claws and my own skin made them even more striking. It was as if I had acquired a piece of the night sky itself, crystallized into this exquisite form.

Marcus staggers backward, eyes wide, looking down at his shirt where four parallel tears have appeared in the fabric. Four tears that match exactly the spacing of my fingers. "Aeliana." Marcus's voice sounds far away, even though he's standing right in front of me. "Look at your hands." I don't want to look. I can feel them changing, feel something sharp emerging from my fingertips, feel strength flooding through muscles the kind of power that is fuelled by anger and the need to kill. But I look anyway. Claws. Actual claws where my fingernails should be, curved and razor-sharp. My hands look longer somehow, more graceful but infinitely more dangerous.

He looked down at me and Devon, his eyes glinting purple from under the moonlight like he had found a treasure in a very unexpected place. “What are you two little bunnies doing here?” The Black Claw hissed as his grin turned into a dreadful smile that made me and my brother tremble in fear. My mind was filled with fear, and I couldn’t think of anything but to scream for Dad to save us. I screamed at the top of my lungs, and the next thing I saw was when the Black Claw flew and hit a tree with its back. At first, I thought the impact killed the Black Claw, but when Dad turned his back on him, he stood so fast and slashed Dad’s back with his giant claws.
