The Alpha’s Obsession with the Rejected Mate
The blood from Corvin flows across the dirt and corrupts my hands where they press into the ground, warm and sticky, seeping between my fingers like an accusation.
The metallic scent fills my nostrils, mixing with the earth and foliage, and turning my stomach. I stare at the red staining my skin, unable to look away from Corvin’s lifeless form crumpled a few feet away, his eyes still wide with final terror.
Lucian stands over me, his shadow long and oppressive. “Get up, Mother. We have much to discuss about your little change of heart. The twins are waiting.”
I remain on my knees for a moment longer, tears mixing with the blood on my hands as the full horror settles over me.
