" I replied gleefully as we went out of the hotel and waved good bye. We got a taxi shortly after and directed the driver to Charlie's Ice cream palace. I paid for the fare and marched into the fairly small building with a big banner on top saying “Charlie’s Ice cream shop” It was a simple place with a white and royal blue theme, a few pictures of different ice creams hang on the walls and comfortable chairs organized in lanes. We found a free seat. I consider that a miracle considering this place is usually full during weekends and it’s Sunday. A waiter made his way towards us.

“She might be held up on the way. How about this? Come with me, and we’ll wait for her together at a nearby cafe. It’ll be more fun than standing here.” Charlie hesitated, his mother’s constant warnings about not going off with strangers echoing in his mind. But this wasn’t just any stranger. After deliberating for a long moment, he finally nodded with reluctant trust. “Alright, but as soon as my mom comes, I have to leave.” Winnie couldn’t help but smile at his precocious demeanor. “Fair enough.” She didn’t take him far, just to a cozy cafe near the preschool. They sat down at a table by the window, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air.

Pastries line on the table too. "I love spending my break here. I'm a lover of caffeine." Charlie says while I busy my hands making and pouring some coffee into my cup, and picking up tortillas from the cluttered pastries on the table. "Hmm…this tastes good." I hum around the bite. Charlie follows the cue, picking one and stuffing his mouth full.

Soon, the rich aroma of Blue Mountain coffee filled the air. Charlie, handsome as ever, let out a half-smile. "What if I'm not in the mood for Blue Mountain today? Perhaps I want to try something different?" "Unfortunately, that's not an option, I'm the one covering the expenses today." Her response mirrored his from the last time they met, leaving Charlie momentarily stunned before bursting into laughter. Compared to his previous rebellious and cool demeanor, this peal of laughter seemed surprisingly bright and carefree. It made one wonder if it was the glaring sunlight outside or if the peal of laughter was a genuine one that truly represented him.
