POV The Hybrid I never left. That’s the part they never understand. They think absence means distance. That if they cannot see you, you must be gone—retreated, fled, defeated. Mortals cling to that lie because it keeps the dark manageable. I learned long ago that the most effective place to stand is just outside perception. I watched the bond die. It was… louder than I expected. Not the scream—though that was satisfying—but the silence that followed. A vacuum tearing open where something sacred had been nailed into place. Her silver hair cascaded past her shoulders like strands of frost, her eyes illuminated with timeless wisdom. “Daughter of the Moonblood,” she said, her voice resonating slightly. “You have awakened the Silent Bond.” A soft gasp rippled throughout the hall. This is wrong in so many ways. Turning back toward me slowly, he's still breathing hard. His jaw is clenched, and his eyes are still wild.
