Elixirs. It felt strange how easily I fell into it, how natural it seemed to read about something that should have felt foreign to me. My mind followed each description, each use, each preparation, like it was remembering something I didn’t consciously know. The more I read, the more the outside world faded, until there was nothing but the pages in front of me and the quiet rhythm of my breathing. At some point, without even realizing it, my eyes grew heavier. The book slipped slightly in my hand. And everything went dark.

Instead, curiosity — and something hotter, more shameful — rooted me in place. “Show me,” I whispered. Elias led me to a large oak reading table in the center of the main chamber. He selected a slim, leather-bound volume from the nearest shelf. Gold lettering read *Dominance: A Primer*. “First lesson,” he said, opening the book. “Read the opening passage aloud. Do not stop, no matter what I do.” My hands trembled as I took the book. The words glowed faintly as I began: “‘She stood before her master, wrists bound by silk, heart racing as he approached…’”

I opened an ancient tome—so old that the pages were elegantly scribed by an individual rather than a machine. The artwork caught my attention first. In the section header was a drawing of a person with a wolf’s head. I read the passage below and sucked in a shallow breath.

Damian grunted, not looking away from the monitors. "Pilgrims," I said, kissing the top of his head. "They blocked the tram. I looked at the main screen. It showed the interior of Sector 9 the fusion chamber. In the center of the room, the crystal chrysalis still stood. It had grown over the years. The blue-black star-glass had formed jagged, cathedral-like spikes, branching out like coral. And inside, deep within the semi-translucent shell, was the silhouette of a man.

With one motion I broke the seal, the chains falling onto the table with a metallic clang. The book groaned as its pages surrendered, and on the very first leaf, crimson ink blazed:

The title of book two on Alpha novel is “Convincing Luna Valeria.” She mistakenly stepped on the throttle, and the car began to move on its own at a fast speed. She screamed in horror as she lost total control, and her car collided into a bus. Everyone screamed as they kept hearing different bangs and fighting for their pp. Crystal's car somersaulted, and everyone's bodies flew out of the vehicles. They looked unconscious or rather dead as they were soaked in the pool of their blood. The blood of Crystal flowed to where the dormant body was lying outside it's coffin. Like an electric shock, the dormant body began to move slowly, and before a minute, he rose l ooking healthy.

From now on, she would control her life and not let other people trample on her. She fell to her cot and cried, wishing the notorious Captain Hawk hadn’t captured her heart—and wishing she had indeed killed him on that first day. * * * * Isabelle’s crumbled heart lay in her chest, causing a horrid pain. Trying not to think about it, she looked out the window of the coach as the driver took her through the rainy streets of Plymouth. Excitement should be bouncing in her bosom since she’d never seen this place before. Instead, misery and dread lurked inside, making her wonder about her future.
