It was not all, the cover was the eyes of werewolves. My brows furrowed in keen interest as well as something I can't name settling within me. Without thinking further, my hand took out the book and the front cover showed the face of werewolves with its eyes glowing in a golden hue. I brushed my fingers on the cover, mesmerized by the image. It was delicately printed and made.

His wrinkled face looked like it was crawling with countless wriggling worms. I shuddered and stepped back, whispering to Silvia, "Good thing I've got you. This place is terrifying." She snorted and suddenly shoved me forward, straight toward George. With an icy laugh, she said, "This pretty boy will make a great offering. You're going to love him." Before I could react, George gestured, and several eerie puppets stepped forward to pin me down and drain my blood. A sharp bell rang out, echoing through the night.

My eyes slowly moved to spot the velvet-covered book and something written on it with golden ink that shined in the light coming through the open window. Despite thinking to ignore it at first, I found myself walking towards it a few moments later. Something about leaving this book without looking through it did not feel right to me, it just made me feel some sort of anxiousness I was not ready to deal with. I walked closer to the book and picked it up. On the blood-red colored cover of the book, there remained written in bold golden letters— Predators. Its cover bore a sigil she recognized from his ring a crescent moon entwined with a wolf’s head. She nodded obediently, but curiosity clawed at her like an itch under the skin. When he left the room, she stared at the red book until the shadows grew long. Then, unable to resist, she touched the cover. The leather pulsed beneath her fingers alive. The latch came undone with a soft click. Inside, the pages were filled with hand-drawn diagrams of moons, human anatomy, and wolves mid-shift bones cracking, bodies half-transformed. Beneath one sketch was a name scrawled in ink:

She walked closer to one of the big shelves and touched it. She knew she wasn't supposed to be there, but she couldn't help looking around more. She took one book from the shelf and cleaned off the dust on it. She saw a picture of a black wolf on the cover of the book, which was titled A Pack of Wolves. "I can't believe a man like him reads fantasies." She scoffed. She was going through the books when her eyes suddenly caught a book. The book had a black cover with no picture on it. "Werewolves rule." She read it silently. She was about to open the book when she suddenly heard something whispering behind her.

Finally, she found the one she was looking for. Layla managed to grab the book and add it to her stack in her arms when her eyes caught sight of something. A book stood out among the rest. It was bound with dark brown leather and had brandished designs on the spine. The title read - Malleus Vampiro: A Treatise on Vampires. Placing her other books on the floor, Layla pulled the leather-bound book from its home amongst the others and opened it. As her eyes skimmed the pages, she caught a couple of words; SHADOW STALKERS, BLOODSUCKER, PHANTOMS.
