Mr Cruz [BOOK 1]

Mr Cruz [BOOK 1]

Everything led back to her and our kiss and I wanted to do it over and over again, and more. I fell on the bed, kicking my shoes off and picking up my favorite book. La Divina Commedia, a three-part poem about the travels through the three regions, Hell, Purgatory and Paradise. It was an immediate distraction from my tormenting thoughts and the fact Emiliana was only down the hall. Or so I thought. Soft knocks, almost inaudible, tapped on my door. Louder ones followed before the door swung open.

The Lonesome Hours

The Lonesome Hours

But I was actually fantasizing about him. How despicable! How shameless! I opened the window to let the breeze in and gulped down several large glasses of cold water, hoping it would quell the heat. But desire was like Pandora’s box. Once opened, there was no turning back. What was I to do? Was I really going to burn alive? I collapsed helplessly onto the bed and happened to catch sight of the see-through lace nightgown lying nearby. My mind started racing. ‘That’s right, Farrell! I still had a husband!’ I thought.

Three Months of Mourning

Three Months of Mourning

The evening breeze was gentle, carrying the fresh scent of early summer plants growing. In the courtyard below, children laughed and ran around. Elderly residents strolled leisurely. Life flowed on in its most ordinary and solid form. I took a deep breath, filling my lungs with fresh air. The three months after Arya's death, which had been full of her family's scheming, were like a long, oppressive nightmare. Thankfully, I had woken up. Wounds would scab over, pain would fade, and the lessons I learned would stay with me, making me stronger and wiser going forward. Night fell, and the city lights came on. I went back inside and turned on the lights. Warm illumination instantly filled the ent

Rejected by the lycan king

Rejected by the lycan king

Whispers from the Hollow That night, I dreamt of fireless light. A space with no sky. No time. Just echoes. And in the center Arlen. He wasn’t aged. He wasn’t afraid. He was… still. “Ophelia,” he said, though his mouth never moved. “You’ve opened too much. Left too many doors ajar.” I stepped toward him. “You went looking for truth,” I said. “What did you find?” He turned his hand over.

Moon's Betrayal

Moon's Betrayal

I said, grabbing the book off of the shelf and showing Kai proudly. That was a bit easier than I thought it would be. That was at least reassuring. He took the book from me and flipped through it, confusion lining his features. “Our next clue is a book of poetry?” “Yes. No, not exactly,” I said, biting my lip and flipping the book open until I got to the right poem. “This is a book of poems from the infamous Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke. My favorite poem is this one.” I showed him. I was not huge on poetry, but Rilke was a complete genius with his words, and I would be an idiot to ignore that genius.

Apex of Love

Apex of Love

A single armchair squats in the corner, worn at the arms, a reading lamp bent over it like a question. Julian Croft has a hidden library. The ice king, the man who dismantles empires before breakfast, reads poetry in secret. I walk the shelves. Keats. Frost. Neruda. Dickinson. And Rilke. A whole row of Rilke, different translations, some so loved the covers are mended with tape. I ease a thin volume from the shelf. Letters to a Young Poet. Dark blue cloth, frayed at the corners. I open it and recognize his handwriting instantly. Sharp, angular, the same hand that signed my contract at 4:52 AM.

The Possessive Gentleman

The Possessive Gentleman

Both of them had been so busy with their love making session they were unaware that the door had not been locked since the beginning. Clara Bellavance had been sitting at the library for a while, she had completely immersed herself in one of Rilke's work. Poetry books were some of her favorites, but she especially loved Rilke's love letters as they were based on his true love for Lou Andreas Salome. The interesting love triangle between Rilke, Salome, and Nietzsche had never failed to amuse her. It was rather fascinating to fathom the timing, for Salome was then married to someone else, yet one could never fully disguise their true feelings.

Goddesses or 49 ½ shades of charcoal

Goddesses or 49 ½ shades of charcoal

I waited and then came a riddle. Sorry for the delay. The mental image of your naked self cavorting, throwing herself across the room, and in a pool of blood, bottom to the ceiling and cradle to the wall, was too much for me, but a poor man. I skipped to page 75 and did a Florizel. Perhaps we should try again tomorrow. (Now) Torpid Tannhäuser I found the book, which had slipped behind my writing table during my fall, and opened page 75. I read:

Taming The Tiger

"What is this?" She picked up the note and started to read it slowly. "When you are old and grey and full of sleep, And nodding by the fire, take down this book, And slowly read, and dream of the soft look Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep; How many loved your moments of glad grace, And loved your beauty with love false or true, But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, And loved the sorrows of your changing face; And bending down beside the glowing bars,
