"Just by being you, just by existing and living and loving, you are extraordinary." Adrian made a sound like a sob. "I wish I could have known you," Grace said. "I wish I could have held you and watched you grow and been there for your first steps and your first words and all the moments I'm going to miss."

I let out a breath I hadn't realized I'd been holding, the tension of the landing finally dissipating. Turning my attention back to Grace, I marveled at how even in sleep, she exuded an air of elegance and grace. Her book had slipped from her fingers and now lay half-open in her lap.
