I ask her with a grin, knowing her she's probably brought a book for me to read just in case I ask for one. She stares at me for a second before reaching forward, digging into her back and pulling out a hard cover book, handing it to me. I adjust my chair to sit upright and shake my head.

Stefany replied with a smile. "The story is very interesting and makes me feel happy." "Your favorite book?" Mr. Frank looked at his daughter with a sharp gaze, as if searching for the truth in Stefany's words. "What's the title?" the father inquired. "Oh, the title is Adventures in the Mist. The book is about friendship and adventures in the wild." Stefany explained, trying to sound convincing to her father. "Through that book, I learned a lot about the importance of friendship." Mr. Frank was silent for a moment, nodding slowly. "Sounds good. I hope you can take lessons from that book," the father said again.

I stood up and walked towards the mini shelf in her room, which housed several stories from best-selling childhood authors. Author TED is, so far, my favorite children’s book author. She doesn’t just tell realistic stories; she weaves tales of courage, faith, hope, and love in a way that moves not only the child being read to but also the parent reading aloud. I picked up The Dancing Princess.

I read everything I could get my hands on but not one of those fuckers told me what the fuck I'm supposed to do the first time some asshole hits my baby girl on the playground; or worse yet how to handle the dating years. I check the book in my cart and it is definitely there. A book with the title Kaze read. A book to understnad kids. A book for parents. Are high school kids supposed to read that?
