Emma stepped into the bookstore like she was entering a chapel. The bell above the door chimed softly, and the familiar scent of old pages and new bindings wrapped around her like a blanket. Jake and Lila followed behind her, their footsteps quiet on the wooden floors. A table near the entrance displayed the new releases. Front and center, stacked in neat rows, was her book. The Language of Quiet. Her name below the title shimmered faintly in the morning light streaming through the windows.

Rosemary’s Pov “I will eat later…” I say softly , offering him a smile. He exchanges a look with Xavier , but I do not stay for the lectures that I know is coming. Instead I walk to the entrance and sit on the floor in a crossed legged position – my eyes fixated on the fiery red flames that almost touches the sky. I sit out there for a while , enjoying the peace of being alone. At this moment , all I ever want is to be alone. I would often feel my stomach kick me with hunger , as my nose smelt the food that was cooking but I easily turned my attention back to the burning kingdom.

"Then begin." She opened the book. The pages were heavy vellum, script ink written in flowing black. She breathed in and started reading, her voice deepening as she became caught up in the book. It was rich and sensual, of the god's coming, the scent of rain and mature grain that clung around him, the fear of the gentleness of his hands.

He asked. Lexi worked at swallowing her potatoes first. She tapped the blue book on the table. "I was reading this book today. It's about a man named Martin that gets reanimated and he can hear a voice named Angel. Then he meets up with a girl named Carmen and they search for a dead body." "Dead bodies? What kind of books are you reading? Maybe you should stick to something with bunnies in it or something." Jack went to take the book from her. Lexi slapped her hand on the book. "No please, don't take it. I'm not finished yet." Her pleading eyes looked up at him.

He shifts back; putting a seat between us and truly looking horrified. Bibah simply shakes her head at our childish shenanigans and takes a sip of her iced latte, metal straw clinking in the Hydro Flask. “The Awoo Book Club’s pick for this week is H.P Lovecraft.” She pats the voluminous book atop the pile and I notice it’s the library copy of H.P Lovecraft’s Omnibus 3. “I’m so excited to roast his ass.”

Alizeh: 'I know, but I can't control my laugh! Varun: "I can say this also with that other meaning, but I am not like that na!" Then—something that had never happened before happened. The book spoke. Its voice was ancient, layered, and echoing like someone whispering from a distant chamber. "Dearest reader, this book chose not to open earlier because the time was not right. Do not be shocked—I can speak. I am called the Living Book for a reason." Micha and I exchanged stunned looks but nodded quickly.
