“It’s not funny. Beer shoots right through me. You know that” “Yes. I know that '', she answered. He left the room. Amy lay her head back on the pillow, feeling something a bit heavy underneath it. She furrowed her eyebrows as she put her hands underneath the pillow and pulled out a black book. There was a bookmark in the middle of the book. She opened it to that page. Oh, she thought, this looks like Brooke’s diary. She read only a few lines and her eyes went wide. “Oh my gosh.”

It was one of the oldest houses in the pack. Our pack was also one of the oldest ones in the United States, we were in the great state of Alabama. Rolling hills of green trees and mostly poverty. We were hidden away deep in the forests that hid us from the world outside. We liked it like that. College for us was in Tennessee. Right outside of Chattanooga. I could not wait to go. I went inside and threw my backpack down and took off my shoes. My parents wouldn't be home till late and I needed to study. Which of course didn't happen. As soon as I showered and sat on my bed I passed out face first into my Calculus book.

Learn all his my dirty secrets before he takes me down or whatever his plan is. He had kneeled beside me, swiveling my chair until I was facing him. His hands rested on my thighs, his thumbs caressing them softly as he knelt between my parted legs. My breath hitched, I could feel myself getting excited. Scar wouldn’t shut the fuck up either, begging me to claim him. He stared into my eyes, his face was soft compared to his usual sternness. “You can tell me, Tara. You know that I will always keep your secrets,” he whispered, his chocolate scent relaxing me.

She stomped her feet in annoyance. She looked around for book titles that might be interesting to read while secretly searching for valuable information. The books on the shelf were in a language that she didn’t recognise, yet she could read them. It was as if there was an automatic translation machine in mind. The titles of the books were almost all interesting. However, a dark brown thick book entitled ‘Secrets of the Demon World piqued her interest more. She stretched out her arm to the book on the third shelf from above.

You shouldn't have touched that. She quickly picked up the book, holding it as if it were a dangerous creature. 'This is not for you, Ryker. It's too dangerous. It should be kept away, hidden from prying eyes.' I watched, still dazed, as she locked the book away in a hidden compartment. 'You don't understand, Ryker,' she said gravely. 'Some secrets are meant to remain hidden.' I couldn't shake off the feeling that the book had left me with. The secrets it held, the power it promised... I was consumed by thoughts of it, day and night. I became sleepless, as my mind raced with possibilities.

I raised an eyebrow, needing to have it all laid out. I knew, somewhere deep down, that I should ask more questions. But in the moment, I repeated the one that mattered to me most. “I’m not a secret anymore?” “Not from Beth.” I saw the faintest hint of conflict in his eyes. Even so, hearing the words again felt like a forklift had just been lifted off of my soul. Beth knew. Danny chose me. I was no longer a secret. Between that… the relief that my earlier insecurity was proven wrong… and the way the mate bond sparks pulled at me… I was a goner.

she explained. Brandon’s gasp was sincere while his hand flew to his mouth. “You have the Book of Secrets,” he whispered. Tara was astonished. “How did you know that?” she asked. “It’s a long story that I may tell you someday. For now, just look at chapter twenty-seven,” he said eagerly. He positioned himself comfortably against the dark, freshly polished wainscoting covering the lower half of the wall. “I’ll wait here.” Eyeing him suspiciously, Tara opened the book to chapter twenty-seven and started reading.

“I love it!” “There’s more,” I said, unable to contain my smile. “Thea, you should come check out this one book.” Thea followed my gesture to an antique-looking book that was sticking ever so slightly out from the others. The spine read “The Secret Garden”. She stared at it, clearly confused. “Go ahead,” Elijah said with a grin. “Pull the book out and tell us what it’s about.” She frowned, clearly wondering why we were telling her to read old books when she just wanted to run around and play, but obliged. However, the book didn’t fully come out of the shelf—it extended halfway, and then a loud click came from behind it.
