Older than anything I’d ever seen. The cover was wrapped in dark, cracked leather, etched with a strange symbol I didn’t recognize. A gold circle was embedded into the spine, and within it, a single quill rested delicate and ivory, as if plucked from something divine. Curiosity tugged at me. I reached for it. The moment my fingers brushed the surface, the book pulsed. A gentle hum, like a heartbeat, thrummed through my palm.

He began to browse while I wandered the poetry shelf like a woman who loved words the way other people loved warm ovens. When I turned back, he was waiting with a small book in his hands and a ridiculous expression of pride on his face. The cover was hand-drawn: a crooked little house, a tiny dog, and a big, slobbery sun. My name, clumsily written in the corner, made something odd and hot bloom under my ribs. “What is it?” I asked, because the shop smelled like glue and paper and possibilities. I had asked Lily to get me a blanket, a picnic basket filled with all sorts of delicious treats, and a lovely sunhat. That way, I could lie under one of the large oak trees and start reading the thick red book. The basket was insanely tempting, filled with strawberries, apples, and clementines. She had even tucked something in that resembled a croissant. In addition, she had filled the basket with plenty of tasty drinks that tasted like fruit juice.

Becky asked again. The lady took her hand and take her towards the giant book name “Prophetic Gaze “which has a silver shiny cover. It has a huge golden lock. “What is this giant book”. Becky asked while touching the sparking cover of the book. As she touches the book cover, the strong rays emit from the book and glow the area around it. It is more like a dream. Becky felt a sudden jolt in her fingers which touch the area. She became shocked looking at the book and immediately pull her hand back.

Clasp to her chest was a big book, with a crescent moon carved out on its black, thick cover. Coughing uncontrollably, Lilith gasped for air, Rushing over the luggage, I found a t-shirt and shorts that I had packed for her, I knew it would come in handy. “Told you it was something important,” She wheezed. "All of them?" "Yes." I carefully unwrapped each box to find hardbound books in them. I laughed out loud, reading the titles. I picked the first one, looking at the erotic cover page where a girl is sitting in a man's lap. He is wearing nothing. "Married to my boss," I read the title. The second one has the hands of a girl, cuffed to the bed, "The Mafia Don's Pet." The other one has a guy with a pack, a body I am so familiar with and the photo I have taken while he was in the gym. "Did you really put this on a book cover?"

“Can you not read the title?” I looked at the cover of the book. But I knew that was not the title for I could see the make-shift cover, hiding it. I did that too. “Yes, but I am asking about the real title.” “You have good eyes.” She took off the make shift cover, and now I could read the real name of the book. It was “One Hundred Ways To Kill A Liar.” And I was lying to her. “It is a forbidden book, so don’t tell.” What she said was more of a command or a warning.
