Books For Early Reader Novels & Stories

I begin to stand up and grab the smaller hamper when Lorie begins to speak. "Um.. Layla?" She says hesitantly. "Yes." I reply back gently. "Can we read a book tonight?" She asks with pleading eyes. "Sure!" I reply. "What did you have in mind?" I ask as I approach the side of her bed. Slowly Lorie pulls a book out from under her pillow and hands it to me as I sit down on the bed next to her. The book is a mild chapter book and the label reads "Hank the Cowdog".

The bookshelf was just as tall as Andrew so he could easily access the books there. The bookshelf had all sorts of books, ranging from fictional novels to nonfictional novels, to educational novels and textbooks. Her eyes caught titles like; The Redwall series by Brian Jacques, Caddie Woodlawn by Carol Ryrie Brink, The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros and a lot more. Even the Encyclopedia was in his bookshelf. And there was also some novels on the basis of business and finance. The book the lad was currently reading was The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie.

"I'm gonna guess that's not the way his mom remembers it." She smiles and reshelves the book. "That's actually a really sweet book. And if Chance was older, I would buy it right now. But he's turning one." "So?" I follow her as she walks around to another shelf. "So right now he's going to do two things with books… eat them and tear the pages. We'd better get some board books." We spend the next several minutes looking at books that are very obviously written for babies. Most of them have only one picture on the page and are a quarter of the size of a regular book.

Crimson collected the book from her hand. "Your hands not reaching your ears means that you are still very young and not allowed to start reading love stories so from now you are only allowed to read books like Cinderella, frozen, Moana, Alex in the Wonderland and other Disney stories apart from that, no William Shakespeare books until your hands can reach your ears okay." Crimson said. "But why? I don't want to read that, they are so boring." Pearl pouted.

“He’s trying to figure out why grown adults find shaking toys so fascinating.” Carmen wiggled the rattle again. “Because we’re fascinating.” Jayden let out a small gurgling sound, his arms flailing slightly as he kicked his legs. Evelyn leaned forward instinctively, steadying him. “Easy, little man.” She reached for one of the cloth books lying beside them and opened it, turning the pages slowly so Jayden could see the contrasting colors, animals, shapes and big, exaggerated faces designed to stimulate developing eyes. “Once upon a time,” she read softly, not because Jayden understood the words, but because he recognized her voice. “There was a very brave baby lion…”

“Time for a little story. No pressure, but this one’s important. Gotta have that legacy.” Nik blinked slowly at the pages, completely quiet. He watched intently as I read, voice hushed and monotone. It was a simple book, designed for early readers, full of art in primary colors and a watered-down retelling. The battle for the temple, the miracle of the oil, and the general message of standing up for what’s right. Nik probably didn’t understand any of it yet. He was probably just entranced by the scarlet robe on Judah Maccabee, or the golden gleam of the lamp. But I believed it didn’t matter.

And even when they hadn’t… I no longer let them land. I had too much peace in me now. There wasn’t room for shame anymore. Back at the house, I carried the books Darren had ordered for the nursery upstairs and placed them on the newly assembled shelf. They were all hardcovers with soft pastel covers and gold-stamped lettering: Goodnight Moon, The Velveteen Rabbit, Where the Wild Things Are, Dream Big, Little One, I Am Enough. I traced the spine of each book with my fingertip, whispering the titles softly.

I stood up and walked towards the mini shelf in her room, which housed several stories from best-selling childhood authors. Author TED is, so far, my favorite children’s book author. She doesn’t just tell realistic stories; she weaves tales of courage, faith, hope, and love in a way that moves not only the child being read to but also the parent reading aloud. I picked up The Dancing Princess.

I don’t want to be clawed by a rogue again. I walk to the gazebo. I decided to spend some time here before going to bed. I opened again the book, this time I can open it with my bare hands. The pages are blank and I wanted to figure out how to read this. I put it on the table where the moonlight reaches my book and letters suddenly appear. I look again in the book and words started to form. I smiled as I discover how to read it. I started to read the book and it has the story for kids in here. I enjoyed reading some stories and wondered who was the author of the stories.
