I decided to read it and went to the garden. When I arrived, I looked for a seat where I could comfortably read the book. When I sat, I opened the book and smelled it before I began reading it. I have no idea why I have to check in two hours before my flight but that's the rules. I knew I could sleep on the plane. Dad had gotten me a first class ticket. I placed all my things neatly inside a bag and put the bag on the bed. I took a deep breath and a looked around the room. It had been my room for years, so many years. I shook my head feeling foolish at my sentimentality, it wasn't like I was going far. I slouched back on the sofa in the living room, picking up a book from the table and flicking through the pages, I had read it before but I needed something to occupy my mind until my parents got back, otherwise I would spend the next couple of hours worrying.

I say in a muffled tone. “Hello, my little bookworm. How was your meeting?” I grunt in explanation and refuse to move from my face-plant position. “That bad huh? I am assuming you were late?” Patrick, the librarian and historian of our pack, says in a teacher-like tone. I lift my head just a bit to grumble out my words. “Me being late is not the point!” After a minute I add, “How was the book?” Patrick laughs, “Oh! I gotta say, chapter 9. What a doozy!”

"Miss Patterson said I could." The book launch was held at the Seabrook bookstore, the same sun-drenched room where Maya's writing group met. The event was small, intimate, and packed.
