I stepped in and froze in wonder at the floor-to-ceiling shelves of books as far as the eye could see. Directly in front of me was an open space where a long, polished, wooden table and chairs sat in front of a large stone fireplace. It was beautiful. Behind the table rows and rows of bookshelves ran to the back of the room. They looked like the perfect place to find a quiet spot to hide away in with a good book.

Books. Shelves and shelves of books, arranged neatly from floor to ceiling. The shelves were dark mahogany wood, and the room smelled faintly of aged paper and polish. The warm lighting reflected on the gold-lettered titles that lined the spines. There were tables in the center — carved from marble — and plush leather chairs beside them. A ladder on rails stood against the far wall for reaching the top shelves. It wasn’t just a library — it was majestic. Arden stepped forward, his eyes wide with disbelief. “This…” His voice trailed off as he turned slowly, taking it all in. “This is incredible.”

I darted my eyes to the large volume of books filling that shelf which instantly made my heart flutter at the comfort of reading they were practically screaming to offer in my head. Besides her was a cream, velvet reading chair that looked out through to the window. It was strangely large, big enough for perhaps herself and all three of her mates to rest on.

I slip inside and shut it behind me. Theodore's room is charming. It's plain compared to some of the rooms I've seen in the palace, but it feels refreshingly modest.
